TL;DR: its not even long but ume is a nerd bby with another nerd bby as her husband such dorks

fuyuu didnt give a damn about ume at first. yeah. thats a thing. ignored her and stuff hhah…

then theres her trial and like oh man. she barely tried to defend herself just because??? wow nope . and then there ume almost killing which fuyuu really really wanted to happen but nope theres alphonse so haha her chances to escape this place without an execution is gone !

after that, fuyuu just mostly avoided ume except for that time they fought during a trial and fuyuu danced and fainted so hhah.

after all of this, fuyuu just really wants to get over everything in the past and just wishes that someday ume will forgive her? (haha nope) she still keeps her distance and stuff but sometimes attempts to have a small conversation with her (which i dont think would end well) so yeah!

Rune really admired Ume from the start, let's just get that out of the way. He has an innate admiration for all musicians from the get-go and finding out that his roommate had that common interest with him was really amazing for him!! Some part of him hoped that even though the game was rough that... perhaps they could just talk about music once or twice.

And then they didn't really speak directly to each other again until the fourth trial.

And Rune has a lot of conflicting opinions about that entire trial. Even though he knows it was the right thing to do and what she wanted, Rune feels terrible about having to push people to vote for Ume. It doesn't really show specifically because he's so keen on trying to keep people from worrying about him and trying to push his personal worries out of the public eye, but. 

Post-fourth trial is probably when Rune's nightmares began to get especially unbearable for him. He'd been having them since Aqua beat him up in chapter two, but having Alphonse die, hearing both Koyomi and Imogen, two people who were dear to him, try to sacrifice their own lives, and then having to push for the execution of a girl he admired and idolized simply because she had a music career and exuded that air of confidence and independence he could never have all in that short time period really cemented the fact that yes.

His friends, or the people he counted as such, could die.

And that terrified him. 

So, even if Rune and Ume weren't really that close, her death affected him a lot and that entire chapter kind of was the framework for the downward spiral in his (mental) health that would become especially apparent in a later private thread with Wakana and after Koyomi died.

And the thread in Tartarus...

Rune feels like he royally screwed any chances he had of actually befriending Ume or Elijah from that thread. He had no idea how to react to the dead kids coming back and he... wanted to cry out of joy, but at that point, he was just so exhausted from everything that it was hard for him to feel as "happy" as he should have been. And then trying to justify his lack of a reaction with near-bullshit didn't help his case.

He expects Ume to hate him, probably, or at least want nothing to do with him. Nonetheless, he still has that admiration for her, that want to be a little more confident, a little less self-deprecating, but he doesn't expect those hopes to go anywhere anymore.

Also, Rune feels like a total ass for never being able to learn the contents of the note Ume addressed to him. Hearing the things she thought of him in said note probably would have!! influenced how he reacted to her coming back a lot more, but alas. He lost it in the merge and never had anyone read it to him before then.

But!! Rune hopes Ume can be... happy again. He hopes that she and Elijah and whoever else she cares about can be happy after they're revived, even if he expects her to want nothing to do with him.

This isn’t a diamond either.

Man… Ume… This is a complicated one because… The first week before Mono takeover was that Ume was this super cool person!! Which she is!! But then Lee died and then Chapter 4 happened and she swore to laugh at the idiot who fell for the motive.

Then turns out Ume didn’t even kill for the motive directly so Lee felt horrible, coupled in with what happened in that very trial. But it did make her realize that people only really act when it personally concerns them, and that most of them were so selfish and she hate hate hated that.

But then third dead trial and Ume was their mediator, and Lee was… having problems recognizing Ume because??? where’s the bear???? on her jacket??? the hair looks familiar??? Yeah this is where she revealed that she had memory problems to Ume and Eli.

Other than that, she has no other real opinion for Ume other than that she found the mms, although Lee couldn’t help but wonder if it was really worth it. I dont know with her ignore this butt

But yeah, Ume’s cool, and she respects that but she doesn’t really see her as a friend but just some acquaintance.

MAN Ume.... wakana actually... really admired you, did you know?

Wakana actually?? Probably never paid miss Ume much attention during pregame or even IN game. Because really??? record producer... partier... they wouldn't run into each other much, and so she didn't THINK of her much.

But that didn't mean.. she didn't see her. When Ume pushed Wakana in Trial 2, that was the first time she??? Looked at this girl and realized... she was actually... kind of amazing. Smart. Strong. Even when Eli died, she chose to get revenge, to find the truth.

Ume was one of the people... who Wakana was TRULY HOPING... WOULD BE SAVED BY DEATH. LIKE IT'S FUCKED UP BUT AFTER ELI AND AL DIED SHE THOUGHT... THE ONLY WAY UME WOULD BE HAPPY WOULD BE IF SHE DIED AND WAS REBORN TO FIND THEM AGAIN.

WAKANA FELT LIKE YES... UME IS SAFE NOW. SHE WON'T HAVE TO CRY ANYMORE. SHE WILL BE REBORN. SHE'S OK. I SAVED HER

Haha no you didn't she was trapped this whole time the only good thing is that she was with her love and so it's no wonder that seeing her nearly made wakana have a heart attack
