Guatemala Street Food - Crazy Hot Dog Shucos in Guatemala City! 🇬🇹
The chart is slightly unhinged for the Guatemala one, because none of the Guatemalan varieties I found had bacon-wrapped hot dogs. None! Okay, shucos may have bacon included, but not wrapped around the dog. But the combination of avocado and cabbage on a corn tortilla is accurate, at least.
I made the one from the chart, plus a mixta and a shuco.
This was pretty good, felt almost like a salad on a corn tortilla with all that roughage. Seemed odd to have both lettuce and cabbage though.
For the mixta, I followed this recipe. This was definitely the spiciest of all the hot dogs I've tried, thanks to the salsa chirmol and the spicy guacamole. I still enjoyed it and it was an improvement on what's in the chart, in my opinion.
For the shuco, I followed this recipe and used Argentinian chorizo as well, because why not?
This one was also pretty good and I liked the variety of textures. I can definitely dig guacamole with a hot dog now.
