3. …on the nose.

Barry hadn’t even realized he was falling asleep on the couch. Iris was curled up against him and he could hear the television in the background, the movie she’d been dying to watch. He knows she says something, and Barry thinks she’s just commenting on the movie, isn’t even aware of how the woman sits up against him. A light kiss against his nose pulls his mind back from being on the verge of dreaming.

            she didn’t dare look at him   ————   blue hues stare down at the floor, lost in her own thoughts as lithe fingers play with the ring on her finger. she willed herself to take a quick glance up at him but her attention didn’t move. she really had wished, hoped and tried her hardest to shift the feeling that had haunted her for days but it stuck with her no matter what, that gut feeling and constant feeling of nausea from worrying about the situation that they had now found themselves in.

           it had all gone fast ( maybe a little too fast ) if she was being honest they had barely known one another, they never really took that time. she should’ve seen the red flags before now but the naive part of her didn’t want to see them and now look at where they were. she couldn’t shift the feeling of not being enough.  she wasn’t what he needed how could she be? it had been clear that he hadn’t been happy.  maybe it had been some sort of rebound and now he had realised??  she couldn’t be sure but she had to trust in her gut instincts that things right now just weren’t right.

           in her mindlessness playing of the ring she had slipped it completely from her finger and now toyed with it in her fingers the lump in her throat clearing as finally her gaze looked up at him hues glazed over the whites of her eyes reddened.  ❝ i think we need to be honest with ourselves... ❞  she paused trying to collect her thoughts and keep her voice from cracking.  ❝ all of this happened so fast and i  ———  i don’t think we gave ourselves enough time.❞ 

            inhaling a deep breath her hands began to tremble. the nausea come in waves and as she spoke it seemed to be never ending. ❝ i think we need to learn what we need as individuals before we can be anything else. ❞ she really couldn’t help but think that maybe he had jumped before he was truly ready. She couldn’t bare the idea of that maybe just MAYBE she was a substitute for Anne.  holding out her hand the ring placed perfectly in the centre of her palm she took another deep breath her voice now cracking   ❝ I’m sorry... ❞

imra watched him with worry in her eyes. whatever had happened to him, it wasn’t something she had EXPECTED -- although she had spent the last few days scrolling through every information she had to find out in what time she was stuck at. if only he wouldn’t be so stubborn to actually accept her help...

Eyes widened behind her glasses as she tilted her head to look up at the voice that she realized once she looked at him that he was talking about her. “ohh frack--” Her face beat red “Y-you’re calling me hot?” She questioned as she looked him up and down again.

          This... would complicate things, that was for sure. While it did feel as though something was there, Kara wasn’t sure what it was yet or how to go about any of it ( it wasn’t that she was particularly bad at relationships, and more a lack of experience with them — quality versus quantity ). She never made the first move, though as far as that went this was pretty bold.

         it was now or NEVER ———— && she had opted for now   inhaling a sharp breath she didn’t give it second thought if she had she wont go through with it. she already could feel her cheeks burning just at the thought. in the blink of an eye she had closed the space between them her lips pressing against Eddie’s. Her hands coming to the scruff of his neck as she raised on to her tip toes pulling him that little bit closer to her before pulling back breaking the kiss her eyes diverting to anywhere other than at him nervous about his reaction, they had only gone on TWO dates and he was still her boss after all.

          His arms around her were welcomed; Kara was trying to make it seem like she was alright, though she was taking everything harder than she made it seem. She supposed that Eddie was around her a little more often, that he could maybe see what she tried to hide from everyone, especially Alex. Her sister didn’t have to say how she felt, that she somehow blamed herself and was wondering if this would have happened if J’onn was still Director... regardless, Kara was thankful that they’d all made the decision to purge any trace of Kara Danvers from the DEO system.

The DEO had become such a huge part of her life —— she had never been ( or tried to be ) Supergirl without the DEO on her side... and she didn’t even know if she could? Of course she could easily listen in on their frequency, and every other frequency bouncing around the city, but she’d be doing it alone. No back-up. No assistance. President Baker had a point, that his family could be in danger and the precautions to prevent anything from happening to them... but the situation was completely different. He had political power, while her power was literal and far greater in a comparison; and if her loved ones were in danger then she would do anything to save them.

Kara nuzzled further into his embrace, simply to be closer and also to get more comfortable. “We should just call off tomorrow... people are still mad at CatCo and I just don’t wanna go.” As a clearly pro-alien reporter she was getting heat there too, and it just all felt like too much.
