Shuffle Game No. 5

Today my iTunes decided I needed to listen to The Streets.  An interesting take on brit-rap/hip hop, The Streets have a truly unique, modern sound.  Lyrically, the frontman rattles off in his typical stream of consciousness style an account of him cheating on his girlfriend and realizing what a massive mistake it was and how close he came to losing someone valuable to him.  The juxtaposition of sincere lyrics (recognized after one digests the abrasive tone) and the light, quirky sound effects in the background is what makes The Streets so great.

Shuffle Game No. 3

It must be my lucky day.  This is one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite up-and-coming artists.  This is a dark, bordering on sadistic, take on a the aftermath that occurs when a woman discovers her husband has been unfaithful.  You can feel the rage escalate as the song builds to its violent crescendo.  By the end of it, you know blood was spilt and it was the only way this saga could end.

Shuffle Game No. 2

Florence + The Machine, Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)

Not my favorite Florence song by far, I find the verses grating and unimpressive but then she comes in with the chorus that grips your heart and a bridge that makes your soul shudder.  

With lyrics like:

This is a gift, it comes with a price Who is the lamb and who is the knife? Midas is king and he holds me so tight And turns me to gold in the sunlight

It makes you wonder, who did what to her to make her feel this way?  That person is both an asshole and a godsend.  Thank you for driving Florence into this poetic frenzy.
