Our Crew recently got the opportunity to work with the talented comedian Uncle D. The 24-year-old worked on a very special project - a music video, that we had the chance to direct and produce.
The video was premiered to his fans at Chicken Buzz on June 28th. We also got to chat with him a little about his life and upcoming projects, so here’s our quick Q&A with Uncle D.
Q: How did the idea pop in your head to start a comedy Youtube channel?A: I mean I obviously put on an act, I speak in an accent. I actually always did that for fun and at some point people always would tell me to record myself and make videos. I declined the idea because I saw no purpose behind it.
One day my cousins and I took about 5 videos in Ghanaian for fun and people loved them! When I returned from Australia my friends and I saw this video where a man cuts his sons hair in a really horrible way to punish him and we thought it would be hilarious to mock people like him. So we did (in German). And as the videos were hyped we started taking more and more.
Q: Do you have a manager?
A: Nope, we do everything ourselves. Very lowkey.
Q: Who takes part in your videos?
A: My cousins Hanna, Emmanuel and Jeff. The four of us are the main actors.
Q: How do you feel being so successful?
A: It’s pretty funny. All the sudden, you’ve made a name for yourself. I get recognised on the streets, people wanna take pictures and hang out with me. I have a lot of attention that I didn’t get before. It’s pretty cool, attending events and meeting fellow Youtubers.
Q: What’s the idea behind this music video?
A: I’ve always been wanting to do it. In January 2017 I made a list of things I wanted to accomplish. Uncle D makes music - that was one of them.
Q: Does the song have a deeper meaning?
A: It’s supposed to be comedy but also a little bit of truth. The song is about foreigners moving to Germany who have difficulties adapting, like learning the language. People having to work hard and provide for their family.
Q: What projects can we expect from you in the future?
A: I definitely plan on collaborating with other Youtubers. I also wanna travel more and produce videos in different countries. There will be another music video next year, but I don’t wanna give away too much just yet.
