(4) Shvemi
The sewing cooperative ‘Shvemi’ is an artistic activist’s project realized horizontal principles in May 2015 in St. Petersburg. It’s created by a group of feminist artists from St. Petersburg and Kiev. The cooperative works on production of daily, theatrical and conceptual clothes, decorations and other accessories for theatre, performances and actions (including political). Participants tend to develop a model of a non-hierarchical enterprise where all workers are engaged in unalienable feasible work. The group keeps equal degree of involvement of each participant, supports friendly initiative, and participates in the activist and artistic activity of the cities and countries. The co-operative stands for nature’s preservation and rational use of resources, reduced consumption. Because of that the participants promote repair, upcycling and recycling of clothes, conduct workshops on repairing clothes and sewing eco-bags.
Inside the communication management unit, Shwemy prepared special project. The project consists of the instruction where Shvemi introduces their principals and information about the industry of fashion. It’s a tree of choices following which the viewer can get the information or participate in online workshops. Their’ tree is created based on the possible dialog with the viewer of exhibition.
