Out at Market [Arabian Nights AU]
Nothing could beat the marketplaces of the desert kingdom of Clarines at midday, at least that was what he thought. So many different classes of people always crowded around in one area, and the high energy made his heart race. Fascination with such an average place might be seen as strange to many, but the blue-eyed boy in the middle of it all couldn’t help himself.
After all, a sheltered prince kept cooped up in the palace most of the time didn’t get to see everyday sights like this very often.
Zen, the prince of this very kingdom, had always been rather adventurous when compared to his elder brother, the acting sultan. So, of course, he had never really been one for staying in the palace and being sheltered. So, what was his answer to this? Of course, sneak out and go to market, even if it meant getting in trouble with his brother and the guards.
So there he was, in the middle of a crowd. His hands kept busy ensuring the shawl that protected both his skin from the scorching sun and his face from prying eyes was secure as his eyes continued wandering. Best. Idea. Ever.
The biggest problem was that he was trying to take in so much, he missed what was right in front of him. This caused him to bump into someone unexpectedly. As he felt his shawl falling backwards, he quickly grabbed at it to prevent being revealed. Because of how flustered he was, though, he tripped over his own two feet and fell backwards. Well... At least the person who saw him being a bumbling idiot wouldn’t realize he was the prince, that would have been like ten times more embarrassing.
He gave a hurried apology, rushing to get back to his feet. He was thoroughly embarrassed, yes, but he wasn’t going to let that ruin his day.
