Hajime is breathing harshly as he stares at his opponent. It's been a long time since he had such a hard fight, and he doesn't even have his armor to protect him here.
He's not sure he can win this.
The basketball bounces off the floor of the court with a hollow thunk and back up into Mutsuki's hands. "Come on, old man, is that all you've got?"
"That might be all I've got." Hajime wipes sweat out of his eyes. "I can't believe you do this for fun."
Mutsuki tosses him the ball and, when he catches it without thinking, says, "You're getting better at it, though."
"Am I? Or are you just going easier on me?"
A pause. A grin. "Maybe a little of both."
Hajime groans. "I thought you were supposed to be polite to your elders."
"Yeah, sure, but like..." Mutsuki shrugs. "You're so much older than me that it kind of goes all the way around into me not caring anymore. Plus, I'm the strongest Kamen Rider, so I think I get seniority anyway."
Hajime stares at him for a moment and then throws the basketball at his face. He catches it one-handed with a hoot of laughter, and they're back to their game.
All in all, Hajime manages to score...once. Which is better than the last time they played, which had also been the first time he'd ever played this game, and during which he'd mostly made a fool of himself. This time was exhausting, but slightly more satisfying. He doesn't feel like he's getting better at it, exactly, but--it's like photography. It's all about angles.
Afterward, they sit side by side on a couple of chairs at the edge of the outdoor court, panting, and finally, Hajime says, "What made you want to teach me to play this game, anyway?"
Mutsuki's face is buried in a towel, so it's a moment before he can reply, and when he does lower the towel he looks pensive and nervous. "I don't know, I just. Thought you might be lonely."
Reading people is generally difficult, but some people are easier to read than others. "And you were also lonely."
"Well...well, yeah." Mutsuki stares down into the towel in his hands. "Nozomi's been getting on me about doing university entrance exams, but--you know Mr. Tachibana's reforming BOARD?"
"I'd...heard, yes. He came by the restaurant." They'd argued about it, in fact, loudly, until Haruka had shooed them both out of the dining room. "I don't think it's a good idea, but he's very set on it."
"He offered me a job as his personal assistant. I think I might do that. Actually he said BOARD would cover university costs for me, too, so it'd be more like, I do that first, and then I go straight to working for BOARD." Mutsuki glances at him. "What do you think?"
Hajime looks at him sidelong. "Are you asking me for advice?"
"I mean...maybe? You're, like, the oldest person I know. You're supposed to ask old people for advice."
"You remember that I spent most of the last ten thousand years sealed in a card, right? I don't have a broad base of life experience to draw on. Anyway, I think you said I was, and I quote, so much older than you that it goes all the way around into you not caring."
"Right, I, uh, I did say that." Mutsuki scratches the back of his head. "Will it help if I apologize?"
"You can apologize all you like, I still don't have any advice for you. I've never been to school, and I don't technically have a job apart from freelance photography. I've only even known how to be human for a couple of years now."
"Oh." Mutsuki nods slowly. "Right."
He looks a little forlorn, and Hajime finds himself wondering if Mutsuki had many friends before Spider Undead started whispering in his ear, and how many of them he still has after however many months of being controlled. His girlfriend's stuck by him, but how many others? Humans aren't exactly a patient or forgiving bunch.
Except when they decide to be.
Hajime makes a decision.
He grabs the basketball and bounces it sideways towards Mutsuki, who catches it with a startled noise and nearly drops it again and says, "What, what was that for?"
"So we can play more."
"I thought you weren't enjoying it, though."
"Not very much, but I wasn't very good at photography at first either. I'll get used to it."
"I. But." Mutsuki's forehead wrinkles. "Why do you...want to?"
Hajime shrugs. "I may not have any advice that I can give you, but I don't see why we can't be friends. I probably need more human friends. So let's play." He pauses. "Unless you don't think you can beat me, that is."
"Oh, now you're asking for it." Mutsuki's on his feet in seconds, basketball still in his hands, all his vaguely-sad distraction falling away. "Come on, old man, ready to lose again?"
Hajime stands up and follows him back onto the court, smiling. "I don't know, I think maybe I am getting better."
"Did Mr. Tachibana tell you he got an email from Kenzaki the other day? From, like, Romania or somewhere?" Mutsuki dribbles the ball and then tosses it to Hajime. "You should ask for his email address so you can tell him I kicked your ass at basketball."
"I don't know how to use email." Hajime swears under his breath as he throws the ball and it bounces off the backboard.
"Well, then I'll teach you how to do that after you're done learning how to play basketball, and then you can tell him I kicked your ass."
si-siw replied to your post “you????? watched hetalia??????”

Are you there, God? It’s me, Canada back at the LJ kink meme ! (http://hetalia-kink.livejournal.com/3274.html?thread=3701194#t3701194)
It’s super long, it got continued in multiple parts but iirc there’s always a link to the next part, though I’ve no idea how long it is by now and if it was continued since the last time I checked on it — be warned that I remember it stopping right after turning the plot a little darker. It was so popular at the time that someobody translated it into Latin. I love fandom.
“Crazy bastard,” “I hate you,” “pervert,” “Go to hell,” “Die,” you hear them all, more than once — so often it becomes repetitive very quickly, gets boring even faster than most things.
“I’ll kill you”, of course, he never says.
20. things you said that i wasn’t meant to hear
He wakes you once with his hands on your throat, squeezing. You don’t move, don’t open your eyes.
He knows, of course, that there is no scenario in which he is the one who kills you. It’s adorable that he still tries.
You’re not even suffocating.
He is.
A whisper escapes him, a hiccup, like a newborn kitten learning to mewl: “I wish I could,” bottled-up tears and anger in his voice and more desperate passion than he’s ever put into kissing you. He drops his hands and shoves his face into the crook of your neck, bites your skin once, and goes to sleep like a child exhausted after a tantrum.
Comprehensive (I think) list of all the ~NOT ACTUALLY FULL BLOODED INCEST~ shit in Shirodaira Kyou's series
contains substantial spoilers for Vampire Juujikai/Record of Fallen Vampire, Spiral suiri no kizuna/the Bonds of Reasoning, and Zetsuen no Tempest/the Civilization Blaster
it just makes me laugh ok
Vampire Juujikai
Bridget is in love with Strauss who raised her, but they're not blood-related (they're vampires so they don't look anymore like they have something like 100 years difference, but he took her in when she looked like a child and I think he says something like they used to take baths together)
Strauss later marries Bridget's half-sister
I can't remember it's pretty fucked up but I think a girl falls in love with Strauss and is like, his descendant to the 50th generation or something. not quite sure how canonically romantic that is but. there's subtext and symbolism etc.
He raises anOTHER vampire kid who cares for him a lot but I hope that one isn't canonically romantic
ok the creepiness factor in this one is mostly age (there are three more supernaturally-old/twenty-sth-human pairings) but still, WOW STRAUSS PLS STOP.
Spiral
Ayumu is in love with his brother's wife and lives with her and calls her "sis"
Kousuke and Ryouko are half blood siblings and grew up close, she calls him "brother" sometimes and he tells her to stop, and they're very much canon. She also gets jealous quite a few times of his relationship with Rio, who's their half sibling too.
Kanone and Eyes are half blood siblings, grew up close, call each other "brother" sometimes, and are almost as canon
I still need full scans and translation but I'm pretty darn sure there's some canon lesbian feelings between Amanae Yukine and her adopted sister Charlotte
(also Kiyotaka's mom was creepily projecting onto him or something eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep)
ZnT
Aika and Mahiro's parents got married when they were young teens, so they didn't grow up together, but lived as siblings from then on, except he was canonically in love with her without realizing and she flirted with him like whoah. When one character finally calls him out on his huge siscon everyone present tears up and/or wants to applaud. She also shipped him with her own boyfriend, does this count? It's one weird triangle.
IIRC Hakaze's first crush was Junichiro, who's... some guy from her family/clan, I think they must be cousins to some degree. Cousins can legally marry in Japan though so it's a cultural thing, and that pairing doesn't happen anyway.
Basically, I'm onto your weird-not-quite-incest fetish, Shirodaira.
