Si Woo – I Hope It Reaches You (너에게 닿기를) Lyrics

Do you think Myungsoo and his fears of getting kicked out of the group is why he took on the role of shi woo? I think that Myungsoo has always feared that secretly but to then play a character who he can relate to so much, (almost like they tailored the role specifically for him after he got casted) and having to embody that character and basically seeing his worse fears come true and how his life might be if that was really him
I believe you would be talking about the scene in the GROW documentary film, right? Personally speaking, I feel it had to do with the scandal at the time, because it occurred during OGS (there’s also those marks on his neck that he had during that time, I rather not think about where they came from and by who…eek). It could be some other issues or inner demons he’s been dealing with. But I don’t know why anything, other than the scandal, would make him jump to the conclusion that he would be “kicked out”. He’s pretty damn important and essential in INFINITE, no company would be that dumb unless they had a credible reason. And it seems Woollim are standing by their artists now judging by recent events. Perhaps he was too full of emotions?
Now, in terms of taking the role as Si Woo, I don’t think it had much to do with his own fears as much as it had to do with relating to the reality of idol life behind the scenes and behind closed doors. He’s witnessed the dark side considering he’s in that industry. What fans don’t see, how fake those smiles and friendships between group members can be, how it’s not perfect. It’s an image, it’s a game. You can’t show you’re upset or depressed, fans can leave you for anything. Girls sell themselves to “sponsors”.
I’ve gotten the impression…and I talked about it before somewhere in this blog long ago, that L seems to think of himself as untalented. This is why he feels he has to work so hard and try so hard to compensate for what he “lacks” so he wouldn’t be a disappointment to his fans, himself, and INFINITE. I disagree, especially since vocalists in general started off with training and coaching, some got paid more attention to, and natural talent in terms of singing just relies on musicality (brain/mind and how it adapts to music, how quickly you can pick things up) and how far your vocals allow you to reach. Considering his fast rate of improvement and the potential he can achieve, he has the knack for it. He just needs to fix some technical fallacies (a.k.a. his nasality, for the majority part). He plays guitar, he’s a great writer, he’s creative and a philosophical thinker, something which only shows through Bravo Viewtiful, is an ever blooming photographer, has written lyrics, and is more than likely composing.
At the same time, I can’t blame him for viewing himself that way considering how harshly judged he is (for no justifiable reason). And he’s stated and implied he has read comments online. He’s had to live with a stigma the entirety of his career so far. I’m glad he’s remained strong and confident despite it all.
Si Woo’s the representation of what he sees as his struggles. Regarded as nothing but a pretty face, without talent, can’t sing, has to work extra harder than everyone else to make up for what he doesn’t have, etc. What I didn’t like in the drama is that no one ever offered words of encouragement, real words of encouragement. No, he was just a talentless idol and that was that and the drama laid it on a bit too thick until he sung that ballad. I believe that’s mainly why he took the role, not due to the bad blood between him and MHDR. I’m pretty sure INFINITE has fought and they have admitted so, but I doubt it was in that level of bitterness, jealousy, and hate that Rae Hoon expressed. Probably just arguments. They’re dealing with seven different personalities after all.
In terms of him crying in GROW, we’re just going to have to wait and see.
"I'm not full of myself. It's just self-preservation. I've been through so much. This is what I do to endure all the hardships."
