Skatta, real name Nathan Hunter is a rising rapper from Coventry. His interest in the rap scene started over 8 years ago, but it wasn’t until four years ago that he decided to take things seriously. In the last year, the 20 year old has been getting noticed. appearing on BBC Radi 1Xtra’s Sian’s Studio series and performing at Godiva Festival. Find out more about his journey to success in our interview below. You’ve recently released your debut album, can you tell us about your journey so far? Yes I released ‘Skatta’d Pieces’ on hardback & all digital retailers. The journey has been serious so far performing my debut at Godiva Festival in front of thousands of people was such a sick experience. Who from the rap industry do you look up to? Do you think they’ve influenced your style? Giggs, Mobb Deep, Jay Z, Method Man, Nipsey Hustle & More, I don’t look up to 1 rapper I look up to many. What do you think has been your biggest achievements so far? Featuring On BBC 1Xtra Series #SiansStudio. Having my songs played on Radio 1 & 1Xtra with Sian Anderson, Trevor Nelson & Huw Stephens. Performing At Godiva Festival in Coventry 2 years in a row, supporting some of the biggest rappers in the UK. Who would you most like to collaborate with? I would most like to collab with Giggs or singer Alessia Cara we would deffo make a banger. Who do you think is representing the UK rap scene best at the moment? Giggs, Krept & Konan, Ghetts, Jaykae, Kid Bookie. Have you faced any difficulties while trying to break into the scene? None, I haven’t really found any difficulties yet, I do this as a passion so it doesn’t ever feel like a hard task. What projects are you currently working on? Well after the release of my album, I am currently in the planning room with my next project making sure this package is on levels with the album. How long have you been making music for? 8 years all in all but 4 years seriously for last year I’ve been active in the UK without a doubt.
