#sibbooktalk My last 5 star read: The Book of Essie by @meghanmacleanweir truly blew me away. I think it’s because it’s so unexpected. Don’t judge this book by it’s simple cover, inside there’s a riot of color and texture and hidden gems that will keep you flipping the pages as fast as you can. Essie is such a dynamic character; I simply couldn’t get enough. I savored every word, paragraph, page and I was still left wanting more (in the best possible way). I read this in one day and I’m already itching to read it again and again and again ✨

This week marks the beginning of #sibbooktalk and this weeks prompt is #bookishme in which I tell you about a book or character that I relate to. The character that I relate to the most is Merit from With Merit by @colleenhoover. It was the first time that I came across a character that suffered from depression and had some of the same tendencies that I did when I was in the thick of it. Not sure I can accurately describe what it felt like to read those scenes and see myself in them, to realize that if someone is writing about this it means that I’m not alone. It’s so important to openly talk about mental illness and forget about the stigma #youarenotalone
