how dc characters act when they're ill
a/n: im back!! since you enjoyed the sleep hcs so much i did how they act when theyre sick. again tried to make it gn but i think i failed again...so im just gonna write for fem!reader. again pls forgive any mistakes this is not beta read. cw: nothing much just swearing, mentions of hallucinations and a bit suggestive in wally's one. maybe a little ooc, mentions of vomit/puking (non-explicit) characters: dick, jason, tim, damain, steph, wally
dick
like when’s he’s sleepy, dick is very clingy. he’ll whine about how he’s dying and refuses to be alone even for a second (even if he’s just got a cold). he’ll generally wrap himself around you like a koala and refuse to move, saying he needs physical contact. dick is generally just a clingy guy so he’ll be extra pathetic when he’s ill. he bundles himself up on the couch or the bed and just rots until he's better. dick will give you the biggest puppy dog eyes ever and you fold immediately and just do whatever he wants to help him feel better (he does the same for you) dick also tells you about what his mom did for him when he was sick and helps you recreate whatever foods she used to make. it’s great for bonding and lets dick reminisce his parents
jason
jason will try and hide his illness initially saying he's totally fine to go on patrol and then he sneezes six times in a row and accidentally bashes his head on the cupboard door. you have to shove him into bed and threaten him (with not giving him any kisses) to get him to stay in bed. much like dick he gets clingy but he’s not much of a complainer considering he spent a lot of his time as a kid on the streets. but he will whine occasionally if you leave him for too long along even if it’s just to get him soup. jason refuses to eat any food that isn't handmade when he’s sick, he just seems like the typa guy to want to only eat food you've made for him. he claims it helps him get better faster (you think it’s adorable) jason doesn’t stay sick for very long (perks of the lazarus pit) but he makes the most of having you attending to his every whim while he can (he makes you sit and read to him or tell you about the gossip from work) the longer you’ve known him though, the more comfortable he gets so he starts to whine a lot more the longer you’ve known him (because he knows there's less chance you'll leave him)
tim
tim gets sick very easily (missing spleen) but he also refuses to let it stop him from working. he'll be in bed with a fever and the flu but he’ll have several laptops open around him and papers everywhere while he tries to finish a case. you have to resort to getting babs to restrict his access till he's better. and if he hacks his way around the blocks you take all his devices. tim is low-key pathetic when he's ill though because he’ll just be all over you and wanting constant reassurances so you have to smother him with kisses until he’s satisfied and if he even senses you move a little while he's asleep and resting, he’ll be wide awake just to drag you back for ‘healing cuddles’ (i love pathetic tim drake) tim will also refuses to eat when he’s sick because he throws up really easily so you have to essentially force feed him so he doesn’t just keel over and die. you consult alfred on the best foods for tim to eat and the man sends over a food package which is great for you because tim refuses to let you leave his eyesight. he follows you like a little duck around your apartment. he also gets super paranoid when he’s sick so he just sits like a gremlin all night refusing to sleep until you eventually slip him some special grade sleeping pills disguised as medicine. tim is also very susceptible to hallucinating when he's ill. for zero reason. he’ll just cling to you and mumble into your collarbone about the man in the corner and how’s he's watching. he only falls asleep when you pat his hair and whisper reassurances to him. he never remembers his ramblings about the man in the corner afterwards. it either feels you out or is the most hilarious shit ever to you. it’s a wobbly fence. you flip flop between them, depending on how distressed tim seems.
damian
he doesn’t get sick very often but when he does he just shuts himself away with his pets and will only let you in if you promise not to nag him about resting. he acts as if it’s a normal thing and just goes about his day. unless he gets really and truly sick and then he is the clingiest motherfucker around. damian will want you near him at all times and you will be the only person allowed near him which makes it a struggle when he needs to have medicine or to eat. but when he’s back to normal it like a fever dream and he doesn’t not remember being clingy at all. it’s a frustrating experience because he's always a little softer when he’s sick, more open about his life and he likes to tell you little anecdotes and stories about his mother in the LOA (he never really got sick in the league) first time he caught a cold he was freaked out and thought he was dying. tim still brings it up to this day to piss him off (you think it’s the funniest thing ever)
steph
steph gets uncharacteristically quiet when she’s sick. that's your sign she's sick. she’ll be really quiet and just bundle herself up in blankets and crave comfort so she likes it when you sit with her and just be there rather than try and fix her illness. she loves it when you give her head scratches or head massages, they're her favourite thing ever. steph love sit when you just treat her like normal and tell her about your day or whatever patrol disaster happen if you’re a vigilante as well. or you get your information from babs, cass or one of the boys. she loves it when you make her simple foods because it’s simply easier for her to eat. steph loves to watch shitty daytime television (as if she doesn’t normally) and judge everyone. she says it makes her feel less shitty (you just go along with it because it makes her happy to judge the idiots on reality tv) occasionally she invites tim over and they bitch about stuff together, you think it’s the funniest thing ever because tim usually also gets steph's illness so they both end up having to be tucked up together and they both whinge about it to you. you just tell them it’s their own fault (neither of them stop it)
wally
wally runs through illnesses very fast due to his metabolism so he’s only ever sick for like a day max. but he makes it his entire personality for that 24 hour period. hes such a baby about being ill even if it’s just a common cold. he'll be a baby about it and bling to your company and whine all day of you leave him for a millisecond. he requests something every other second and has you on your feet all day (don’t worry he makes it up to you in bed the next day which is your only saving grace, except not really) he’ll be pouty and grumpy the entire time if you have work even though you tell him that he won’t be sick long so stop being a little bitch about it don't worry too much. he will text and call you every five seconds, so much so that you've resorted to turning off your notifications at work or wherever you are. everyone least knows when wally's sick because your phone is always blowing up. sometimes you have to call dick in just to keep wally occupied. he's never one to be idle so when an illness does incapacitate him hes so dramatic about it. wally will act like he's dying when he has a sore throat and stuffy nose.
