Me, up at midnight finishing chemistry homework: Wow, what a lovely weekend sick day

it’s back to school season.

You know what sucks? The fact that kids are getting sick so much because they’re worn out, exhausted. And they don’t stay home because they can’t. Because if they miss a day of school, they have hours of classwork turned into homework, as well as the actual homework for that night. Because if they miss a day, it’s disappointed voices saying that it’s ‘their choice to skip school’ and ‘ok, but it’s bad for your education’. Because the scramble won’t stop for them. So they bear through the day, and drink a cup of coffee. And maybe a second..... and a third. Who cares if they’re jittery and drained and on the verge of collapsing? It’s only a little cold. And yeah, maybe other kids will get sick too now that they’ve breathed in the same stale air for a whole day. But it’s ok. That test in third period is more important after all.
