i’ve seen some people say that gabe and will interactions/friendship seem to be different compared to how they were before and as someone who didn’t used to pay that much attention to willgabe friendship, do you mind explaining what the difference is?

it's generally just that they don't seem to be as close as they used to be. i think a part of that is just that they aren't as huge a part of one another's lives anymore—there isn't the need for any orbit around one another because they don't play together anymore; they barely even get to see each other!! there isn't really the opportunity for things to be the same because they just can't be as close anymore. there's a kind of distance you can't mend.

so, like, the difference in how they post about one another is just naturally different. they're posting about milestones like signing and first goals and whatnot, but it's less personal because they aren't a part of the other's achievements anymore, where for many years their success and just their lives entirely were so closely related.

i think it's good to compare it to the current gabeleno situation, where they played together for an extra year; were best friends for an extra year. if we compare the slide of gabe's recent insta post with him and will to the pics with leno, i think you can really see the difference. the slide with will is almost impersonal: they're posing for an image, they look comfortable but not, like, joyous. but with leno: the first image is candid, and the happiness and love is palpable in the way gabe is looking at him. and then in the megabed image, he and leno are cozied up together, comfortable and easy in an organic and friendly situation.

the difference in how willgabe acts now vs. when they were together is shown with that, i think. the pictures with leno are how they used to be, close and comfortable and living in each other's pockets. the picture with will is how they are now, more impersonal than they ever used to be.
