White was not a trainer. She didn’t trek over mountains or wade through swamps, finding herself more comfortable in high rises than rope bridges. And yet, here she was knee-deep in filth as she called her boyfriends’ name. He had been missing for 2 days without a phone call or a text or anything. He never did that. He simply said he was going to train and didn’t come back. “Black?” she called. The Moor of Icirrus swallowed her words, the only response the squish of her own boots in the muddy puddles. “BLACK!” she tried again, cupping her hands like she had seen him do so many times before. A feeble reply rang out from below. White moved cautiously towards the source of the noise, noticing a steep cliff-face that blended in with the surroundings rather well. She saw ridges in the mud, a few scattered rocks, a familiar backpack that had fallen off during the scramble. Someone had slid right over the edge. As her stomach sank, she peered over and saw someone crumped on the ground below. “Black?” she asked. The figure below coughed, his entire body shaking. “Hey sweetie,” he replied weakly. “I knew you’d come looking for me.”
❝I’m losing my voice.❞ with Rook and Joseph
“No one’s heard from you for a while.”
Rook doesn’t bother picking up his radio. He can hear it just fine from where it sits on the counter and he’s got better things to do. Like focus on not swallowing the salt water he’s currently gargling. He spits it out, wipes his mouth on his forearm, and glares over at the radio when it crackles again.
“Deputy? The silent treatment is a bit childish. You can talk to me. I am your Father and you are--”
Rook holds the button down but doesn’t respond. He’s not sure he could right now, anyhow. His throat feels like he’s been eating nothing but glass for the last two days. He chomps on a marshmallow, some old wives cure Mary May had sworn by as she’d tossed them over the bar counter at him.
He lets it go after a minute, hoping the response, little as it was, was enough to shut Joseph up. He’s had just about enough of the Seeds recently. Faith keeps interrupting his dreams, Bliss still in his blood from his last foray into the Henbane enough to give her a small doorway. John’s taking his silence as a test and Rook’s woken up a few times now to John rambling on through the radio, sermons and speeches about sin and admittance and absolution as he crams a pillow over his head and tries to sleep.
Jacob hasn’t reached out but Jacob probably won’t. Jacob doesn’t tend to talk to him unless he’s getting ready to grab him.
Joseph reaching out is new but Rook figures little brother went tattling.
Oldrivalshipping for the sickfic? Pretty please :)
When Green opened his door on that chilly, rainy Sunday night, he was expecting a stray pokemon or a salesperson with a terrible shift. He certainly was not expecting a girl. And yet, here she was, marching into his foyer the moment he opened he door with shaking shoulders and a red nose. Letting her soaking jacket fall to the floor, she sniffled and hobbled into the kitchen. “What are you doing?” he asked. She flinched at the accusation in his voice, not bothering to turn around as she mumbled into the cabinets. “Just letting something warm. I’ll leave soon,” she replied, tugged a can of chicken soup from the back of the cabinet. Green sighed. That pesky girl could try and scam him, flirt with him, or defeat him in a battle. But expecting him to sit there while she was sick and cold? She clearly didn’t know him at all. Green walked away, shutting and locking the door before Blue had noticed his absence. By the time she turned around, spoon in hand, he was already holding out a towel, a pair of Daisy’s pajamas in his other hand. Blue looked him up and down as though expecting a trap. “You’re cold and wet. Change into something dry while I heat up the soup. You’re staying here tonight,” he commanded. For once, Blue didn’t complain. There was no grumbling, so snarky comment, no nothing-- just a quick peck on the cheek as she took the pajamas and went to get herself changed.
“Guess yelling all the time made you hoarse, huh?” Whitley teased, a rare hint of sarcasm in her voice. Had Hugh’s throat not been burning, he would have told her off and wiped the coy little smile right off her face, but all he could do now was scowl and hope his disapproval shone through. Whitley only giggled at him, making his annoyance melt away as quickly as morning’s frost. It was hard to stay mad at the girl making playful jabs at you while handing you cough syrup and warm soup. Hugh moved to speak, but Whitley silenced him with a finger to the lips. “You need your strength. Just relax for a bit.” Hugh sighed, snuggling deeper into the pillow as Whitley brushed some hair out of his face. Gently, she leaned forward and planted a quick peck on his forehead. “That should help,” she said. Hugh smiled, a warm coming to his cheeks that had nothing to do with the fever.
sabblue for the sickfic meme if you're still taking requests?
“You’re an idiot,” Sabrina said. Blue paused, the blanket still bundled in her arms, and cocked an eyebrow. “Who’s the sick one again?” she asked. Sabrina pouted and let Blue drape the blanket over her. She handed her girlfriend a warm bowl of curry and put a fizzy drink on the bedside table to calm her stomach, then moved to leave. “Wait,” Sabrina said despite herself. Blue turned back for a moment, a smile playing on her lips. “I thought you said I was an idiot.” “I know, and you are, staying so close to someone with the flu, but... can you stay? Over there, so you don’t get sick.” Blue laughed. “Of course, love.”
I'd love for you to do Yellow with any pairing for the ficlet, Vex! Thanks in advance :D
Yellow snorted, hacking up a lung as she desperately tried to cough up the phlegm currently assaulting her throat. She spit the gunk into a paper towel, trying to remember how to breathe normally, and was surprised to hear a knock at the door. “Good morning sleepyhead!” Blue cooed. “You sound like shit,” Green added. “Why’re y’here,” Yellow slurred. “Oh wow, you do sound terrible! And I’m here because I’m bored, same with Green.”“Ahh,” Yellow replied, annoyed at the nasally tone of her own voice. Green and Blue led her out of her bedroom to the couch, where they both pushed her into the nest of blankets they had made and put on some nature documentaries on Yellow’s rusty old tv. Within the hour, Blue was stealing popcorn out of Yellow’s bowl and chatting with her as they watched a show about Ducklett while Green made soup. As Yellow stared at him in all his stoic glory donning Yellow’s favorite Pikachu and Friends apron, she couldn’t help but smile. She had good friends.
