sid jenkins analysis
Sid Jenkins, who is the best friend of Tony Stonem, was heavily influenced by Tony's behavior despite people still seeing them as complete opposites. From the first episode, we see that tony does irrational and unnecessary things for his own entertainment; or in better words, because he can. As the series progresses, it is shown that just as he does with his actions, he uses his friends for his own entertainment, moreso Sid. Whether it's belittling him or full on putting him on the spot.
Sid, however, is the complete opposite of Tony. Tony's girlfriend even goes out of her way to call Sid 'sweet' which she's never described Tony as. She's aware that tony sucks and he's an asshole, but Sid is sweet and actually loves her. Sid is more composed compared to Tony. He still gets into trouble, but only if Tony is the reason he even acted in a situation to begin with, seen in the first few episodes when he forced Sid to get a shit ton of weed only for Sid to later be in trouble with the guy Tony sent him to.
Just because Sid can be described as 'different than tony' doesn't mean he's better than tony. Tony is manipulative, cunning, arrogant. Sid isn't any of those things, however the way he treats Cassie, who is interested in him, mirrors how Tony treats michelle. Tony treats michelle with little to no regard on many occasions, dismissing her feelings and even going out of his way to cheat on her in her face on, again, many occasions. Sid dismisses Cassie often. He humors her, sure. He'll talk to her if she talks to him, and she expresses her interest in him frequently, and just like Tony, Sid dismisses her affection and would rather have a romantic relationship with michelle, tony's girlfriend.
