LG announced new smartphone with insane display
LG announced their new 5-inch smartphone with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and no less than 440ppi pixel density. The new smartphone display is based on AH-IPS (Advanced High Performance In-Plane Switching) technology. This technology offers high color fidelity, wide viewing angles, stable images and rapid response speed when touched.
LG’s new display has all the potential of becoming the new king of smartphone screens. The screen sets the bar high for other manufacturers since they have the insanely high resolution coupled with a 16:9 widescreen. This makes it perfect for viewing video content.
The iPhone 4/4S’ Retina started the pixel density craze. It’s definitely not the smartphone with the highest pixel density any more but they made smartphone manufacturers race to squeeze more pixels into their devices’ screens. The next generation iPhone will probably come with a larger, 4-inch screen with a higher resolution (possibly 640 x 1136 pixel).
LG’s new display will probably be released in the second half of this year and it will be exhibited at SID 2012 Display Week in Boston which starts June 4.
