Goodbye Program with the Education Office. [July 3, 2014]
I still remember the first time I walked into the Education Office during site visit, and how warm and welcoming the staff were. That welcoming and supportive spirit never wavered, and the Education Office members [especially the four in the first photo] have been vital to the success of many of my projects. They have continuously been huge advocates of Peace Corps, and my well-being at site. Many things were easy for me because of them.
And I should have been the one to treat them to a delicious meal, but to celebrate and give a proper closure to my 2 years in Leku, the Ed Office invited me to lunch [at one of the best shakla t'ibs places in town] and even presented me with a gift - a scarf, vest, and bag made with the cultural fabric of Sidama Zone. I was so honored and touched, I could not express it enough.
