Found the tiny Andy/Sid community and had this little idea that spiraled out of control

That Sid/Andy fic where Sid and the Toys have to co-exist around each other and eventually come to an understanding with one another

Sid was never that bad. He was just a troubled kid who would do anything for attention. When his dad was too deep in his cups to give him any, he turned to playing rougher and rougher with his toys

After getting scared straight by the toys, Sid becomes terrified by the mere presence of any toys. It takes years before he can finally be in the same room as them without freaking out.

Years passed, as time is wont to do, and Sid enters the same high school as Andy (due to zoning areas, Sid and Andy went to different middle schools [much to Andy’s relief, now that his bully isn’t around anymore]).

When the news that Sid is going to the same high school as him, Andy is understandably wary, but to his surprise, Sid doesn’t do anything to him, avoiding him in the halls and refusing to even look at him when in the same space.

A few weeks of this passes until eventually Sid almost demands to meet up behind the bleachers after school. Andy, seeing the burly punk can only agree and hope he doesn’t get beat up too badly

When Andy arrives, he’s preparing himself for the worst only for Sid to nervously apologize for the way he had treated Andy in the past, and that he doesn’t expect forgiveness, nor friendship, just that Andy deserved an apology

Andy doesn’t know what to say, just blue-screens, and Sid takes that as non acceptance and nervously apologizes again and runs the way home

A few more weeks pass where Andy starts observing Sid (almost stalking him) to make sure that this isn’t a trick. All he sees is a freshman willing to fight on the behalf of the bullied and losers

Andy makes a decision, and seels himself, managing to corner Sid and asks if he wants to be friends

Sid is elated and the two start tentatively hanging out. After getting to know each other, they quickly become besties

Unfortunately, being besties means that the two often hung out at each other’s homes to study or play video games. Meaning that Sid is sometimes stuck in Andy’s room. And if that wasn’t already enough to get his heart racing (damn him for being a gay disaster!), the central figure of his nightmares is there with them, always watching

About a year has passed since they both started high school, and Sid had finally worked up the nerve to address the toys, properly, once Andy leaves to take a shower (while track is fun, it makes him really sweaty. Andy’s lucky Sid is head-over-heels enough to stick around to watch his practices)

I dunno where to go from here. Just awkwardness all around, especially when they both realize the other isn’t going anywhere any time soon

Somewhere in here, Sid and Andy start dating

I think it comes to a head where Sid rescues the Toys from the dump and deposits them back to Andy

Maybe Sid worked there part-time, recusing and fixing up toys before donating them to forever homes? Have him taking a gap year to scrounge up enough money to go to a trade school as a mechanic? Or college for engineering? (Because, like it or not, the fact he managed to put those toys together with such different parts, yet they are all working fine? That is some serious skill, problem solving, critical thinking, and just genius! Especially at that age)

i love the idea of Sid having an akward crush on Andy and he dosen't know what to do with it because they (at first) aren't even that close + they're both kids so obviously they don't really know how romance works. so they just end up becoming close friends that are comfortable with psychical touch i like the idea of Sid having poor social skills because he's mostly mean and aggressive to people, but obviously that approach would scare Andy away so he has to try and be "calm" in order to befriend Andy. Even though Sid's way of playtime is very violent, i think he and Andy could try to play together without scaring or boring each other out during it... for example, they could play war together or pick up random sticks and roleplay guns/swords with them. i think that these two examples of playtime would fit both Andy's and Sid's tastes... i also thought of Andy roleplaying as a sheriff and Sid roleplaying as a bandit and that's cute as well :>
