Rus knows. Of course, he knows. When he caught Red on his way to snoop around Axe’s quarters, he knew exactly what his friend would find. He had watched everything from the rigging. Saw everything from the rigging. That was his job, after all, keeping an eye and metaphorical ear out for anything and everything. It was what he was good at and was one of the reasons he was so dangerous. He had a keen sense of when something was important enough to take note. Knowing how to read body language like it was second nature and being able to spot a liar from across the ship made it easy.
When Axe abandoned his brother and his post, he knew immediately that he needed to keep an eye on it. Then, to see that sweet little treat of a bundle in his arms, naked and freshly marked? That was a whole new kind of problem, and well… Who was he to get in the way?
Something told him there was more to this than a monster going rogue and taking spoils. Axe never did anything without reason. As much as we all hated to admit it, the giant was far more experienced than the rest of us. It came with the territory of where he was from. The guy knew what he was doing, despite the nasty hole in his skull.
Besides, he knew he would get his chance to meet and figure things out. It was a boat after all. There was no need to tempt fate by angering the beast. He’d leave that up to Red. Although, Blue had been pushing the limits too. The only difference was that Blue was going about it smarter.
Red getting it handed to him was going to be hilarious though. He was right about Axe acting off but didn’t bother to look too deep into the kind of off. It was going to be one rude awakening once he figures it out…
No, Rus would continue to keep watch and observe for now. As he said before, it was what he was good at. His time would eventually come…
