so
the losers have a new year’s party right
and they have it at bill’s house bc everything is more fun at bill’s
and all they do the whole night is talk and play board games and it’s super fun
and then, on the new years special that was playing on the tv, there were 10 seconds to midnight
ben debated so many things in those 10 seconds, like if he should kiss her, or if she’d kiss him instead and he wouldn’t have to make the first move, or if he did, if she’d be okay with it
but he decided he would kiss her, and her apologize a million times if she didn’t want that
and as everyone on the tv yelled happy new year, ben kissed bev
it was silent as stan kissed richie, ben kissed bev, mike kissed bill, and eddie took a sip of his water, rolling his eyes as his friends in their cliches
ben pulled away from her after a literal second bc he was scared of her reaction
when he looked at her, she was beaming
“beverly?” he asked in a whisper
“ben, that was... that was good.”
eddie smiled at the two bc oml they’re finally getting together jesus
bev giggled at ben’s face, which was a mix of shock and something everyone else would call love
“can i, um... can we, maybe... do that again?”
and bev is the one to kiss him this time, and he’s not sure which way is up
they hear eddie and stan laughing, and pull away once more
they look at the rest of them, who have apparently been watching them for a bit (except maybe richie who couldn’t stop making heart eyes at stan)
“so, are you two together yet or do we have to suffer some more?” mike chuckled
“i don’t know... bev?”
bev took ben’s hand in hers and muttered, “i wouldn’t be opposed. ben?”
ben grinned. “i’d want nothing more.”
and bev kissed him on the cheek, turned to everyone else and said proudly, “guys, this is my boyfriend, ben hanscom”
and ben again smiled and exclaimed, just as proud, “and this is my girlfriend, beverly marsh.”
and everyone clapped and cheered for the two (even richie when he took his eyes off stan and realized what had happened
they went to sleep cuddled against each other and slept peacefully. that’s how everyone slept; stan held richie in his arms, bill and mike were holding hands and facing each other, and eddie... well, eddie was eddie and slept with half of bill’s blankets surrounding him
and they started off the new year right. they started it with their best friends. that’s all the needed
