i half-promised a roceit analysis and i don’t want to do anything else now that the idea’s been put in my head so without further ado, some roceit for your roceit needs.

black hole sun: no roceit here, but the lines “heaven hath sent hell away/no one sings like you anymore” scream anxceit of some sort (+ janus guilt over virgil leaving so 👀) to me which is not what this analysis is about but also like. Anxceit™️ yk

it seemed the better way: more anxceit? wow i did Not catch that on my first listen through all i know i cry over roceit eat hot chip and lie

anywhere: i’m more inclined to think of this as janus to thomas, but it could Also be janus to roman, honestly (i.e. they both have a more positive outlook on the world and are inclined to believe the best of people, but janus wants to warn them that that’s. Not A Good Practice if you don’t want to get your heart broken. if you want to spin it angstier, this could also be janus talking about how he isn’t good enough for roman but that’s a Bit More of a stretch)

all the good girls go to hell: this is just janus saying “being the villain is good sometimes, actually now stop ignoring me” (which means he must be Very :D after the latest ep)

denial: at the beginning of this i promised roceit and then i got derailed but i’m getTING BACK ON TRACK NOW this one could be interpreted Several ways but since i’m pushing the roceit agenda here, let’s go the roceit route, aka janus apologizing to roman after the last episode and trying to say that he Knows roman is better than he thinks he is (“I know the world is in your hands/I do, I do, I do/And I understand/Oh I do, but do you?” and “I know you're looking for direction/And I know, I know, I know/I know where you wanna' go/Oh I do, but do you?” scream janus telling roman that being the way he is is Just Fine and that he loves him for it)

trust in me: hm so while this could be read as janus @ roman during clbg and svs 1, that makes me Sad so i’m reading it as he Legitimately wants roman to trust him (esp after this new ep ;-;). also. villain aesthetic. disney villain aesthetic. need i say more. janus is in love with roman “princey” sanders and i Will Not Stop Thinking Or Talking About That

razzle dazzle: i saw this song and immediately went Ape Shit because. janus. is a goddamn theater kid. it’s been confirmed. (roman is also a goddamn theater kid. they are theater kids and in love unfollow me now, this is gonna be the only thing i tweet about for the next week. i’ve wanted this for years fuck. what the fuck.) also, this hits the courtroom scene A Bit Too On The Nose so what i’m saying is that the only reason janus chose a courtroom is that he’s a goddamn theater kid who loves chicago thank you and goodnight. as far as i can see: y’all. janus loves roman. and he’s like. So Sad that he can’t see that anyone else does (me too babe). also he’s trying to relate to roman by using both of their perceived unloved-ness which is both Very Sad and kinda sweet. (“As far as I can see/Nobody loves me/As far as I can tell/Nobody loves you either”)

criminal: FINALLY SOME GOOD FUCKING ROCEIT ANGST ohmygod i have so many feelings about this song holy shit- okay listen this entire song is janus being so incredibly sorry for hurting roman like. he is So Fucking Sorry. and basically this one. this one really hurts if you think about it in that context. i’d. give some lyrics as proof. but it would just be the Whole Entire Song and this is getting long enough as it is so just. look up the lyrics if you want to cry about Them (roceit)

change: *chanting* roceit angst roceit angst roceit angst me, sobbing: janus just really wants to be there for roman and love him but he knows he fucked up and he’s so scared that roman’s opinion of him is going to change permanently and wants to let him know that he still loves him and he’ll be there (and like the other sides to ig :/ (/j)) whenever roman wants to come back and i just ;-; i’m fully sobbing (“I'll be able/To be honest, capable/Of holding you in my arms without letting you fall when I don't feel beautiful/Or stable” and “There's a change gonna come/I don't know where or when/But whenever it does/We'll be here for it” (read: we’ll i’ll be here for you)

devil in the details: this song makes me sad in the context of roceit (bc it’s basically saying that janus may or may not be faking Everything including love) so i’m gonna. Ignore™️ the Obvious Meaning and make it Angsty; i.e. janus thinks he’s faking everything but really he’s just scared of being vulnerable/that being in love with roman makes him vulnerable

come little children: despite the uhh vaguely creepy tone thinking about this as deceit comforting roman and giving him permission to break down and ignore the pain of the world for a little while makes it Very Sweet honestly (“Come little children/I'll take thee away/Into a land of enchantment” and “Too weary of life/And deceptions/Rest now my children”)

into the unknown: hhh janus loves roman and wants him to be happy, even if it means pretending (“If dreams can't come true/Then why not pretend?”)
