So we know that Roman left not... feeling the greatest. And he hasn’t felt that great in a while. He’s questioning what’s good, what’s bad, his perception of others, and the others perception of him.
The newest episode he questioned if he was good or not, after directly saying he was the crux of Thomas’s issues (which,,, isn’t true but that’s a different post) and in the newest episode we had another “Dark Side” accepted, in a sense.
So now we’ve seen two dark sides become light, but we haven’t seen any light sides become dark. Interesting, no? You know how when a new dark side was introduced, we’d get creepier music, darker lighting, the works? And how Roman isn’t sure if he’s good or not?
What if, in the next episode, when they call up Roman, the music that accompanies isn’t majestic and dramatic, but melancholic and broken? The lighting by the tv is dark, making it kind of hard to see Roman’s expression clearly, but there’s this sense of despair and not-quite-rightness about it.
And, what if his sash isn’t the bright bold red that we know and love, but, instead, a garish and dingy Orange?
TLDR: Roman outcasts himself and becomes the Orange side.
So this might be an au somewhere but, I’ve been thinking about it for a while, so I thought I get it out there. It’s just the basics right now, but I have some stuff planned for it! It gets kinda long, so I put the others under a read more. So let’s get started:
Logan Maurer: Art History major, hasn’t decided a specification yet but is leaning towards architecture of some kind. 19, just started his sophomore year and dying because of it. He lives in one of the dorm buildings. Has lived in the university town most of his life. Demisexual biromantic. In a “are we???” phase with Patton but doesn’t quite realize it.
Virgil Blackwood: Painting major with a minor in art history. 18, freshman making his way through his first year, met Logan in an art history class they’re both taking, also lives a floor below him in the same building. Moved from New York to go to the University. Ace. Stressed about both college and his feelings for Roman.
Patton Dodson: Culinary arts and Fabrics double major. 19, sophomore and trying to convince his parents that switching his Fabrics minor to a major was a good choice. Was in the same orientation group as Logan their freshman year and is now rooming with him. Moved from Oklahoma. Pan. In a “are we???” phase with Logan
Roman Sansovino: Animation and Theater double major. 19, sophomore that’s commonly found laying face down on the ground in either the theater department or drawing and computer animation class rooms. Met Patton in an introductory theater costuming class their freshman year, met Logan through him. Lives in an apartment right off of campus. His family moved from Italy when he was younger, he grew up in California. Gay. Thinks Virgil’s cute, but doesn’t want to freak him out when he’s already stressed about college.
Declan Sanders: Fabrics and Stage Makeup double major. 20, junior and ready to graduate. He was a TA for one of Patton’s classes, and see Roman around the theater department enough to know who he is. Thomas’s older brother, they both grew up in a town not far from the university, so he commutes for classes. Bi. In a passive aggressive flirting phase with Remy.
Thomas Sanders: Music and Theater double major. 18, freshman, only has music declared right now but is sure he’s going to double major in theater by second semester. Met Virgil in an orientation class, and has a class with Roman in the theater department. A few doors down from Virgil in the dorms. Grew up in a town not far from the University with his older brother Declan. Gay.
Remy Dormir: Painting major. 20, junior already affected by senioritis. TA for one of Virgil’s beginning painting classes that had to be split into two sections due to size. Took a few culinary classes for fun and met Patton. Lives in the same apartment building as Roman. Moved from Louisiana. Pan. In a passive aggressive flirting phase with Declan.
They all go to the same University (I’m still debating on names right now). Roman, Patton, and Logan are all friends, and are slowly bringing Virgil into the group. Virgil and Thomas are friends, but Virgil’s not sure if he wants to introduce Thomas to the others yet simply because he doesn’t want to lose his first college friend to people that are way cooler than he is (which wouldn’t happen, logically, he knows, but he’s an anxious boy and he worries). Declan appears sometimes just to mess with Thomas, as older siblings tend to do, and he manages to accidentally scare Logan and Roman each time. The few times Remy comes with him, Remy ditches Declan to talk to Virgil and Patton, mainly complaing/giving advice about teachers to avoid.
I have some thoughts about the relationships as well, but it got super long so I’ll make that a separate post, if anyone is interested! I have a lot for these boys, so feel free to ask questions or whatever!
I’ve been meaning to post my fics on ao3 for a while now and I finally have some time to do so this weekend, but I’m not sure if I should do it all in one go or do it gradually over a few days. What do y’all think?
As a day-late birthday gift to myself, I’ll be reblogging all of my written stuff soon. If you want to block it so it doesn’t flood your dash, I’ll be using the tag “gozy’s birthday reblog” !
So, my birthday is on the 27th, and I don’t know if I should post the two fics I still have under my belt (another kid!virgil one, and one about burnt out Roman) reblog a couple of my older fics again, or share some more about my art school au. I’m indecisive, so I’m turning to y’all!
Hi I’m finally working on that second part of By Any Other Pet Name and it’s already over half the word count of the first part, and I’m not even halfway through it yet?? Oh boy
