FORM MAKING.Workshop week 1.
The last week has been extraordinarily THRILLING!!!!!! Am i so glad i found myself in this workshop. My class is the coolest in the entire lot of workshops running in college. Its called form making
The initial tasks were about exploring an empty plot that is right next to our college premises. We were split in groups of two. One of us was blind folded an the other had to help the blind folded person to walk around the plot and feel the textures to understand the land space. Further we were told to mind map the place completely with illustrations and were shown a documentary on how to create natural sculptures and land art.
On the second day we all were to present our ideas of an installation in the plot that we had explored , which was inspired by nature. Something that would blend in but also stand out of the crowd. The whole idea behind this was to develop an understanding of space, and also to understand nature and its various aspects that decorate our surroundings and make us feel at home.
My idea that i had presented was the installation of branches that would look like the fingers of a humans hand. We could dangle vines from the branches that would have tiny leaves like the shape of water drops. The entire picture will be of the hands controlling a rain shower. I wanted to portray the rain and how its scarcity is affecting us.
Anyways after a discussion of all the 40 ideas we were sorted into 5 groups on the basis of similar ideology.I am in the sidewalk intervention group that was to deal with working o the measly small sidewalk space. We brainstormed a lot and tried to combine all our different ideas into one major creation. The following note is my prototype of the installation that we will have been working on. We haven’t progressed much because all the elements in our installation are temporary and will decay very soon so the images that will be following should help you get a better idea ! ^_^

Concept Note:
Books, the windows of our imagination. The Sidewalk Intervention plans to conceptualize the world of stories. Our book tells you tales of nature and how we must not restrict ourselves to the confines of pages but do what can be done, by going beyond them. Our book intends to visualize the five elements of nature-sky, water, air, earth & fire. We have selected a broken tile which is our central point of attention. It will represent a book. We plan to show braids made out of plants that will emerge from the two gaps and give the impression of stories coming out from the book. We will show the different elements of nature by using tiles and stems for the rain droplets which will be developed at the bottom end of the tile.On the left end of our book tile we will create a mosaic which will be made up of organic colours. The leaves which are already present on the top end of our tile already gives the impression of the element of earth. We also have plans to make the rain drops 3 dimensional by using ash for the ripple effect of rain drops on the surface. We also have a waterfall that will be falling into the gaps which will be done by using hay that will be coloured blue using natural colours. For all the elements of colour that will be used we plan to used natural resources like kumkum-red, tur,eric-yellow and blueberries/flowers-blue.
