When Gene moves to continue mopping up the blood, Rader flinches like he’s going to get hurt again, but Gene just shushes him like a baby and says, “How you feeling now, Rader? You still with me?” with this soft voice that Babe intimately remembers— low, serious, warm. Abruptly he feels like maybe he knows what Gene gets out of picking anonymous soldiers to fuck all careful and nice, using his hands to make a man feel good for once. Babe’s not special. He just got lucky.

Way of Nature by @steeseman (part 2 of Before During After)

Part one (Something Holy) is so fun and hot, and part two is such a great spin on episode 6. This series has perhaps my favorite characterization and voice for both of them! Eugene is a little cranky and kinda odd and clearly—deeply—caring, and Babe is so smitten and sincere and snarky! Babe’s dialogue and inner voice in particular are so well done.

This holiday season I wanted to take time to celebrate and give something back in the fandom. So Sidgene's 12 Days of Ficmas was born!

For the 12 days I will be posting gifset, photo edits, fanvideos, book covers, and more! All inspired by my favorite fanfiction across the fandom. Each day will focus on a different ship from either Band of Brothers, The Pacific, or Masters of the Air.

Because I want to foster a community of sharing those unforgettable fanfics and show appreciation for the author’s who take the time to write them... I invite you to join me!

RULES:

From DECEMBER 14th - DECEMBER 25th 2025 post anything (fanvideos. fanart, gifsets, photo edits, moodboards, etc.) inspired by your favorite fanfiction within the fandom

You DO NOT need to participate every day

You DO NOT need to stay on theme. (ex: if you want to post 12 days of Webgott, go for it!)

Try to tag the authors of the fanfiction you make content for (if you know their tumblr username).

this video is a bit of a mishmash, inspired by several fics:

king and lionheart - one of my absolute favourite luztoye comfort fics that i come back to again and again. change is real and scary and this fic captures the essence of it so, so well. i don't have the brains to try and figure out a modern au edit just yet but i wanted to include this fic somehow, so i took the titular song for this edit lol

an old voice and by extension, the entire little talks series - theee luztoye required reading... it's all canon to me! this series and this story has meant so much to me over the last year. it's completely shaped the way i think about this ship and it's a huge part of why i finally decided to get properly involved in the hbowar fandom. i've cried, i've smiled, i've kicked my feet and giggled... i've done all of this at work when a new update drops in the middle of the day

break backs and hearts - absolutely beautiful series of canon-era vignettes. i truly think that there is so much skill involved in being able to effectively convey emotion and feeling and plot within a tight word count, and to me this is the perfect thing for whenever i want to read something comprehensive that covers their relationship through the whole war, but i'm also limited on time

since i couldn't really choose just one fic to focus on for ficmas, i've ended up with something that i hope captures the essence of their relationship to me, as shaped by the above fics (and all the rest in rie's catalogue as well)!
