Thank you so much for the post about Pennhurst! I feel exactly the same way and people always just laugh it off and say “oh but it’s fake!” It really makes me disgusted to see how those children and others who suffered terrible treatment are mocked now. (I feel the same about the Terror behind the Walls at ESP)

I’m so glad a lot of people responded to my post on Pennhurst! As someone who has faced a lot of dumb stuff from other people bc of mental illness, seeing not only our history but our present state be mocked and played as “scary” makes me feel scared and angry at our state in society. I understand how you feel about Terror Behind the Walls, but I do want to say my piece and say overall ESP does a fantastic job throughout the year of presented an in-depth history and current state of the American prison system. Something Pennhurst can’t even grasp the basics on, lmao. One of my awesome mutuals, @punkbuttt actually works at ESP, and could probably let you know more about it. According to them, though, ESP does have an “infirmary” section of their haunted house that seems to be going into Pennhurst territory. But I’ll let everyone forms their own opinions on that. In general, as I’ve said before, any haunted house that utilizes a historic site and historic stories of tragedy is diving into a morally murky territory. ESP uses the profits from the haunted house to help preserve the site and give an excellent year-round museum, which is great. I completely understand you’re opinion of Terror Behind the Walls and why it’s bad. I’m inclined to agree, but I’m also feeling swayed in the other direction by the positive benefits of the haunted house.

Anyways, I feel like I over-responded to this ask a bit, lol. But I’m so glad you liked the post on Pennhurst!! To you and others, I’m always open to conversations about this topic and others surrounding haunted houses, and how historic sites should be preserved and presented.

Spia!

They both celebrate Christmas despite neither of them being religious. It’s more of a tradition than anything.

They both spend their first Christmas together just because they don’t have anyone else that they’re terribly close to. They hole up in Mia’s apartment and eventually go get a tree and give each other presents. It’s actually that Christmas together they realized they were in love with each other which had been like a long time coming. 

Spike hasn’t celebrated Christmas since he was turned and he has a lot of Thoughts about modern day traditions regarding the holiday. 

Christmas Eve is their time to celebrate. Eat pizza, drink a lot of wine, watch Christmas Specials and have sex.

They both prepare themselves and go see Mia’s parents and family Christmas day. 

Spike dresses his cat up in a santa costume....it does not end well but at least the scratches will heal fast.

Ugly christmas sweaters.

Spike puts a mistletoe over his dick every year. Mia’s angry that she finds it funny every time.

- what is their “morning ritual”?kit is fairly low maintenance on a normal day where she is just going to work. quick shower, little to no makeup and depending on whether or its hot or not she tosses her hair up into a ponytail/leaves it down. she usually makes coffee while her bf cooks and his sister sleeps in like a bum. if she has a chance and isn’t on the road she might go for a run too.

- if they were to have a “happy place” they retreated to in their mind during stressful/boring situations, what would that place be? what would be in it?probably just late nights with finn and cora. chilling out cuddled on the couch with them watching a movie and eating popcorn and painting cora’s nails.

miadoesn’t like holidays at all given there’s a lot of bad family memories tied to them for her.  she usually spends her holidays drinking a lot and eating pizza in bed. her boyfriend also agrees with this type of holiday and adds some adult distractions for her.

valaranever really had a family to spend holidays with but she’s always loved the idea of all of them. but her new found family will definitely help with that.kittends to celebrate christmas by herself when she was on the road in her late teens. she’s a little overwhelmed with finn and cora’s idea of christmas and seeing everyone since they make her tag along to family christmas as well as have their own with friends.
