Sigbinan
What are the creatures in fear we encounter?
Throughout all cultures, people have feared what could be lurking in the dark, stalking through these inky shadows and attacking whoever crosses their path, dangers that always seem to respond with cultural anxieties.
This piece revolves around a girl that can set dark malevolent creatures known as sigbin, free from jars made of clay with the touch of her hand. The girl, who is unnamed in the story is known only as "The Holder" she has been slowly drained of her life by these creatures for years. The girl was consumed in the darkness of her mind for so long that she doesn’t know who she was anymore. Little is known about the origins of sigbin, they are not native to this realm. They were forged in the blackest pits of hatred and anger.
For some, they’re only perceived as dark shimmers in the air. They can only sense it and are subject to its malignant shimmers which will harm them if they get too close. However, some can see these creatures like the protagonist. Some people can visibly see the ghostly creature and they can even interact with it in some way or another. For these people, the sigbin acts as a sort of pet and uses them to do their bidding whenever they wish. Sigbin are ghastly creatures that feed on the life force of mortals, reducing them to a mindless husks that cannot be saved. It is unclear if she knows what she's doing or if she's being controlled by them.
