hai you have a good grasp on hank what do you think about their actions/characterization at the end of project nexus ? I have some Mixed opinions on it so im curious what you think. If you don’t know it/don’t want spoilers then instead uhhh. Ik it’s said that hank would pet a kitten got any thoughts on that idk
unfortunately i haven't finished nexus yet.. orz i keep hearing a lot of talk about this ending though, i really am excited to see what it is!! my partner and i really need to get back to watching our playthrough.. (looking at it longingly..)
hank's soft side though.. i can always talk about that. you've come to the right place.
i know i've gone on approximately 500 million tirades about hank's humanity and how they do possess regular person feelings somewhere beyond all of the murderous instinct. i'm just thoroughly obsessed with the concept and studying them under my microscope. and i agree wholeheartedly, i think hank would be very charmed by something like a small animal.
with the hypothetical of them finding an animal roaming the wasteland, i believe they'd be curious about it.. i can envision them bending down to look at it, maybe holding out their hand to try to beckon it closer. they would also find petting a cat to be a comforting sensory experience for sure! hank would enjoy the texture of their fur and probably sit with it for a while if they're not in imminent danger. still keeping their guard up, of course, but taking their time with the little critter where they can.
were they to actually get ambushed during they'd probably shove that kitten in their coat and make a break for it. i don't think they would keep it, they don't see themselves as someone capable of a fulltime pet and worry they'd hurt the thing, especially when they're so big and a kitten is so small.. and with the forces at play wanting them dead at every turn they don't think it would be safe in their care. but they would find themselves thinking about it a lot and wind up regretting not keeping it a bit, to at least know if it survived.
hank has appreciation for some of the sweeter, more normal things in life. it's one of their layers that i adore most. they make me think of the scene in friday the 13th part 2 where jason takes the whistling tea kettle off the burner. there's this underlying tenderness to them that i just can't shake..
