The Secret Ingredient is Love - art by @captainironnerd
Siil Design In Process So yeah. This is how the boi looks like. I'm still working on it and it's still a work in progress but hey I'm trying. This might be a ref? Crappy camera so I'll put some info about him later.
10. What are some facts readers may not know about "The secret ingredient is love"?
The âofficialâ date of conception for this fic is December 14th, 2018! I was planning on writing it alone, but kept pestering Elle until she said yes. The exact conversation was Al: write it with me; Elle: maybe I could?
We thought each chapter was going to be âmaybe 2.5kâ. When Elle wrote her first chapter and it ended up almost 5k we were both like âitâs fine, the next chapter will be shorter!â. Spoiler: the chapters did not get shorter and the fic ended up being twice as long as we predicted it would be.
One of the very first things we decided about SIiL was that we didnât want Bobbi or Hunter to win - we thought it was important that their âprizeâ was each other and not the competition.
We looked up basically every recipe that was included in one of the chapters. Some of the ideas we got from the various seasons of bakeoff and some of them were âthat would be fun!â but the very first draft of our outline was just what the signature, technical, and showstopper bakes were for each week.
Related: Elle cannot, for the life of her, spell âchouxâ. Every mention of choux pastry had to be corrected.Â
The inclusion of the baby bird at the end was a relatively last-minute addition, if I remember correctly? Elle and I talked a lot about we wanted it to be clear that they were moving forward in their relationship together in a healthy way, and to me/us being prepared to bring a child into their relationship was a big part of that.Â
@robotgort anything fun to add?
(send me a question every fic writer wants to be asked!)

âHey, love.â Bobbi startled when Hunterâs voice came from behind her, and he chuckled softly as he kissed the shell of her ear.
âNeed help with the dishes?â
âIâm fine,â she said, returning her focus to the sink of soapy water in front of her.
âAre you sure? Because youâve been holding the plate for the last minute while you stared into space.â

Summary:Â When they're invited back to All-Star Baker as judges for the Christmas episode, Lance Hunter and Bobbi Morse are ectastic. The weekend brings both trials and triumphs as they struggle to make their first Christmas as a family of almost-three worth celebrating, and try to help others find love along the way. At the end of it all, everyone's learned a little more about what it means to be home for Christmas. The sequel to The Secret Ingredient is Love, written with @robotgort!
Sneak Peek:
âI canât believe weâre back,â Hunter said, taking Bobbiâs hand.
The sunlight was bright and sharp, even in what passed for winter in North Carolina, but the pleasant temperature sure was certainly a nice change from the frozen Cape. Guilt crept in. They should really check in on Piper at Mockingbirds, but the middle of the morning rush probably wasnât the best time.
Unless there wasnât a morning rush, because of some unforeseen disaster and-

Chapter 10: Finals Week & Chapter 11: Epilogue!
Sneak Peek:
The house was abuzz with activity, and Hunter would be lying if he said he wasnât overwhelmed by it all. The camera crew from the show was flitting around, trying to find the best places in the house to film while simultaneously chattering about how they were going to separate what footage belonged to Bobbi and what belonged to Hunter. Apparently the showâs producers had never considered what would happen to the home visits if two of their contestants cohabitated.
âOkay?â Bobbi asked, appearing at his elbow.
âYeah.â Hunter stepped out of the way as a cameraman walked by, pausing to crouch by the kitchen counter before beginning to move again. âIâm discovering I donât like interruptions in my routine.â
