“Guru Nanak's Wisdom at Haridwar: A Lesson Beyond Rituals"
SAKHI - 2 Haridwar Saga
In the bustling town of Haridwar, Guru Nanak Dev Ji, a beacon of Sikh wisdom, encountered a peculiar sight. People by the Ganges were fervently offering water to their distant ancestors, facing the sun. Curious, Guruji joined in but threw water in the opposite direction, towards his farm in Punjab. When questioned, he questioned the logic, stating that if their ancestors could receive the water, why not his distant farm?
This insightful encounter led Guru Nanak to impart a timeless lesson: honoring ancestors through meaningful deeds, not rituals. In a gentle, yet profound manner, Guruji urged them to focus on actions that truly honor their lineage. The people, enlightened by his wisdom, bowed in acknowledgment.
This story from Guru Nanak emphasizes the importance of virtue over empty rituals, a lesson resonating universally. In a world filled with symbolic acts, the true essence lies in deeds that reflect love, compassion, and genuine respect.
With Guru Nanak’s blessing for all.
Sat Sri Akal Ji.
Yours
