i think because euripides has a reputation for writing about politically loaded and controversial topics, people love to (often anachronistically) ascribe various political ideologies to him. euripides was a feminist. euripides was a misogynist. euripides wrote the first atheist manifesto. euripides wrote anti-colonial literature. euripides was woke. euripides was a men's rights activist. euripides was the precursor to the #metoo movement. i think my favourite one is when someone, whole heartedly convinced in the truth of what they were saying, told me that euripides was a terf (like them). and i just had to say to them i simply don't think that's true.
