Much was lost in the fire, even beyond the lives of those who had not had her luck and had failed to be rescued in time. Most, if not all, of what the scions of Nocturnia’s noble houses had brought to the White Oak to prepare for the celebration was gone, and what could be salvaged would be forever marred by that night. Her handmaid had already informed that most of her dresses had not made it out of the fire, leaving her with a handful of dresses she had chosen to bring to Vallarion. Beyond that, most of her jewelry remained unaccounted for, as well as the books she had brought with her to read on her down time. Perhaps the most offensive of all loses is that of the sketchbook she had brought to the White Oak. While it did not contain her entire collection of designs, it contained the information she had gathered in the early events before the ritual, and her preliminary sketches for Lord Evandris’ commission.
A terrible loss, in her eyes, and one she will not accept until she is completely sure no one else had saved her designs. That is what brings her back to her family’s quarters as soon as she is given leave to wander around the castle by the healers. Well, her search for her sketchbook and the desire to check upon her family members. The healers had not allowed visitors for the first day or so, so she has yet to lay eyes on her family, even if she knows they are safe.
Opening the door to the chambers, Theano stops at the doorstill as her eyes fall upon her brother. Quietly concerned eyes flit over his frame to ensure that the words shared with her are true, that he remains unhurt by the events that had left them all so very shaken. When she finds nothing of concern, Theano swallows back against the sudden dryness of her throat and nods at her brother.
“Silas,” she greets quietly as she steps further into the room. “It’s good to see you well.”
