During the day, the desert would usually be unbearable. The sun always shining bright on the immaculate blue sky was, at first, a dream come true compared to the mostly gloomy days in Boston, but soon became literal hell to the Scout; the heavy air, the strong scents and this laziness he felt sometimes didn’t seem worth the heat during the day. And when he thought the desert was against him, the night came. He’d never realize it before leaving the big city, and how could he? There was no way to see it. The stars. It was amazing how bright there were at night, such bright little dots like polished pearls in the inky night sky, Benjamin could only admire them whenever he had time. Without the light pollution from the big city, he was able to start counting the stars and get lost in the numbers, until he simply sat there, gazing up to the void and the lights so perfectly above him.
And tonight was one of these nights. The stars where there, as always, little orbs glowing, reminding you that they were the only things that would never abandon you. And so was someone else. Matthew, the young Mercenary remembered. His name was Matthew. Though they never ever had the chance to speak, there always was a first time. He approached the RED Sniper, gazing up at the stars.
❝ You look like you just managed to count all of ‘em. Do you have any idea how many stars are up there? ❞
