There was a pressure at his chest, forcing him to open his eyes despite the intensity of the cold hand of sudden fear grasping at his insides. It clutched at his throat, as if reaching for every breath and crushing them into things nonexistant, forcefully pushing them back into him.
But there was nothing to be afraid of. There was nothing to fear here. Why this violent shaking, this... this unnerving feeling which threatened to engulf his very being.
Opening those dark eyes, Yuri only saw something which should reassure him and calm the shudders running below his skin. The initial pressure turned out to be of a physical kind, heavy paws resting above the vigilante's heart and one clever eye greeting him. They locked gazes for but a moment, and while something in Yuri's mind said to relax, that the fear had only been some hallucination, that eye could not reassure him.
Not while the sounds of the canine biting down on the metal pipe gave off such a disturbing vibration in the man's head that he had to shove his friend off. Repede barely moved. He allowed the push. The biting wouldn't cease. The eye watched.
Everything was a blur. Was it dark? Or perhaps not? Was he even conscious? Yuri found himself strangely unsure of everything he should know very clearly. And the dog kept staring. And biting.
Head spinning. He quickly glanced around for something to hold onto, as his feet shuffled slightly. There was nothing, anywhere. Where were they, again...?
"I'm really dizzy right now. Even you look kinda weird from here. Sorry", Yuri mildly spoke.
Thoughts were gushing out. Yuri couldn't shake the fear. As he was unable to keep a clear head, he had no way of knowing why it was there, why it was so sickeningly fresh. He got down on his knees. In this action, he wondered why he couldn't remember having gotten up in the first place.
He felt sick at this constant, infuriating uncertainty which insisted on hovering around this strange place.
"What's going on...?" Yuri asked into the air, reminding himself to breathe despite the invisible hand crushing his attempts. "Why do I even feel so... Where are we? Do you know, Repede?"
The canine offered no answer.
"Yeah, I guess not... Ugh, I feel so weird. We'd better... have a look around. No use standing around and not doing anything about it."
Channeling his positive spirit, Yuri looked up once more. But if anything, his surroundings looked far more empty as he had spoken. Frowning at the sight, he couldn't even begin to describe what these surroundings were, as if he'd lost his ability to decipher such. Another glance back at Repede.
He was biting on the pipe.
Yuri's hands moved instinctively to his head at the sound, pressing against it.
"Could you... stop making that noise, just for a bit? I can't really concentrate."
But the canine only stared.
Yuri looked up. Again, frowning. He was sure the space around them had shrunk somehow. As if walls were closing in on them, despite there being none to be found.
The howl sounded like a laughter in the distance.
