In Translucent Memory, Ralph Hall transforms the language of realism into a meditation on fragility and time. Cast in semi-translucent silicone, the youthful figure stands suspended between presence and disappearance — a vessel of innocence caught in the act of fading.
The sculpture’s delicate surface invites light to pass through it, softening the contours of the body and dissolving the boundary between flesh and material. What remains is neither portrait nor effigy, but an echo — the memory of a moment, embodied yet untouchable.
Hall’s work examines how memory alters the clarity of experience, transforming the real into the spectral. Within the silence of the museum space, Translucent Memory becomes less an object than an apparition — a quiet study of what it means to remember tenderness in form.
