How old even is Everett? I could've sworn he was described as being about twenty or twenty-something when the pcs first interacted with him, but in the e55 npc list, he is described as a teen. How old is this manboychildperson?
Well, dear reader, the answer is quite simple:
When I first created Jesse, Everett, and Soe, I imagined each of them as being in their early 20s, and over time I’ve decided to decrease those ages. For Soe, it was because I realized I had her act a lot younger than my original headcanon age, which is why I finally settled on 16 years old.
For Jesse and Everett, the players and audience started referring to them as teens, and that felt a lot more appropriate than the originally described ages, so I decided to quietly swap out my original age for “somewhere in their late teens.”
While I try my best to stick to previously-established canon, when something doesn’t fit, I’ll usually just change it. It can lead to inconsistency of details, but the changes I make are typically because those original details end up not feeling appropriate later on. In actuality, a few dozen of these “inconsistencies” have popped up, and each time I’ve needed to choose whether to adjust them, edit around them, or just keep them in and hope no one notices.
