Crystal of the Week: Chrysocolla
Disclaimer/PSA: While crystals do have healing properties, they are NOT meant to replace any medical procedures, medications, or medical treatments. If you have a serious medical condition(s) or mental illnesses, please DO NOT use crystals as a medical replacement. Please seek professional care FIRST FOREMOST. Crystals can assist in treatments, but they cannot replace them.
This post is the first of it’s kind on my page. I’m honestly so excited to be doing these posts! I’ve been throwing the idea around for a while now, and I’ve finally decided to do it! So to start it off, we’ll be learning about Chrysocolla this week. I’ll be going over the scientific info about this beautiful crystal, as well as it’s physical and emotional uses, and it’s magickal uses. Love & Light be with you, and I hope you enjoy!
Form & Structure
It’s structure is orthorhombic; occurring in massive amorphous forms, encrusted over other rocks, in stalactites, or botryoidal clusters; often in conjunction with other stones, such as malachite.
Color
It’s blue-green in color, but can be found in varying shades of blue, green, and turquoise.
Rarity
It’s easily obtainable, and can be bought from many online sources (holistic websites, metaphysical websites, crystal supply websites, etc.) and possibly in stores that sell crystals.
Geographical Sources
Chrysocolla can be found in Israel, the Congo, Chile, England, Kolwezi, Katanga (Shaba), Mexico, Peru, Russia, the USA (Arizona, Utah, Idaho, New Mexico, Michigan and Pennsylvania), Spain, and Australia.
Hardness
On it’s own, chrysocolla has a hardness of only 2.5-3.5. However, if there’s enough silica (silicon dioxide, mainly found in quartz) to “agatize” it (change into agate or give the appearance of agate), it becomes hard enough to make into jewelry, spheres, etc.
Physical & Emotional Uses
Used for clearing, cleansing, and detoxifying, chrysocolla supports the immune system and helps the body rebuild energy after a period of being sick. It also supports metabolism and enhances the function of the thyroid. Emotionally, chrysocolla can help express personal truth and empowerment, and also help with public speaking.
Healing Effects
After periods of sickness, place over the breastbone or the throat to clear toxicity and rebuild energy. You can also place it over the heart chakra to ease breathing. Since it’s also good at removing negative energies, it can be used to ease anxiety, fear, and guilt.
Magickal & Personal Uses
I had a little bit of trouble finding information on what magickal uses chrysocolla has. But what I did find was that chrysocolla is very good at supporting and embodying Goddess energy. Since it’s used to clear, cleanse, and detoxify, it can be used in purifying spells. It could also be used in protection spells, as it’s used to remove negative energies. They can also be used in spells that bless and purify new homes, apartments, and offices.
Chrysocolla can be used to ease anxiety, fear, or any other negative emotions. You can wear chrysocolla jewelry or carry a tumbled chrysocolla in your pocket. It’s also used to help with clear communication; so it’s wonderful to wear or carry with you if you’re doing any kind of public speaking. Placing it in your office can also help ease your stress levels, and make communication smooth between you and your boss or coworkers.

I hope you enjoyed learning about this weeks crystal! I had a lot of fun finding all of this information, and have found some great sources that I’ll be using in the future. I’ll also be listing them below so you can check them out for yourselves, if you so wish! I think I’ll be putting these posts out on Wednesday’s, since it’s the middle of the week. It’ll (hopefully) give people something to look forward, and to maybe help them get through the rest of their week. Have an amazing week, lovelies!
Love & Light,
Silvaine
