In Hoodoo culture, silver is associated with the protection against evil as well as curative. The enslaved would drink silver shavings in milk or silver water in hopes that it would prevent illnesses.

Someone left this in a Coinstar machine

So my uncle Gary commissioned me to make a pendant with this coin he got. It’s a silver dime and he wants me to put a bezel or something that can hold the coin (I’ll figure out how to do that). The reason why he wants me to do that with this coin is because it has his birth year on it (1908) and it is an irregular circle. Apparently irregular circle coins are not common. He even gave me a check for the commission (paying me $100 dollars for it)! He then also gave me a 2 troy ounce silver skull just as a personal gift to me. He collects pure silver stuff. He has commissioned me before (asking me to make wood salt and pepper shakers). He and I are close and have a lot in common (he loves cartoons like Tom and Jerry, Looney Tunes, and Dexter’s Lab). He treats me like the grandchild he never had. I didn’t get to meet him until 2012 when my mom reconnected with her side of the family (she lost contact with them after sometime being married to my biodad who is a very controlling person). After he met me in 2012 he wanted to be my uncle and be part of my life and I’m glad he is in my life now.
