You are not immune to baby maple leaf
It rained a lot the night before last and this guy washed up onto the deck -- he couldn't have been much more than an inch long on his main axis, not counting the stem.

You are not immune to baby maple leaf

Silver maple leaf, with two very interesting cracks in the leaf that I got to do a brown-to-yellow-to-green gradient on, slightly compressed vertically due to me misjudging how to position it on the paper/what proportions to give those two side lobes.
This is also the maiden voyage of my new sap green! It's quite a bit darker than either of the old ones I worked with, so that's taking some getting used to.
Those splotches in the top left are from my hand. I rested it against some parts of the painting that hadn't totally dried yet, and didn't notice it until I had already stamped another part of the painting with the same dark green spots. I could have edited that out digitally, but I think it's funny and can stick around as an element of my style.
Another element of my style that does not exist on the real-life counterpart of this leaf are the various regions of light and dark on this leaf. The actual leaf is fairly uniform in its green, and these different-colored regions are there mostly because I cannot mix the same green consistently.
I have 1-3 more leaves (number indeterminate because I reserve the right not to finish any of them if I decide they're not turning out well) in the pipeline but following their completion I will start doing wasps.
I’ve decided I like painting leaves that have curled up on themselves like old scrolls
