Silver Warrior (1972) by Frank Frazetta.
This painting was used as the cover for The Silver Warriors by Michael Moorcock (published in the UK as Phoenix in Obsidian). It is the second book in Moorcock's trilogy featuring the Eternal Champion, Erekosë (the first being The Eternal Champion, and the third being The Dragon in the Sword).
Erekosë manifests in this adventure as Count Ulrik Skarsol, Lord of the Frozen Keep. He eventually arms himself with the Cold Sword, a more powerful version of Elric's evil, vampiric black sword Stormbringer (Elric also being an aspect of the Eternal Champion).
Mini-Warriors 3-Pack - Silver Warrior (Kidco)
To get an idea of how I want the final comic to look (plus getting in practice drawing these bots regularly) I'm doing test pages of characters at random points in time before the main plot- hence why Silver doesn't have his scar. Might as well show some happier, peaceful times before jumping into drama.
This page had me experimenting with textures. I haven't made use of them much in comics before, but they really make things pop! I've been looking through some books to get some ideas of how to really push the quality for this, can't wait to experiment some more!
