The Doctor is his greatest mistake.
How many times did he ruin his plan? How many times did he read through Silverash so thoroughly that Silverash feels like a prey for the first time in his life?
More than he would like, surely.
It isn’t that Silverash doesn’t return the favor, even if favor is too sweet a word for it. He doesn’t feel like Doctor quite has a chokehold on him, he doesn’t feel cornered, he doesn't feel like he is on the brink of ruin.
But he is being read and does he not keep himself away from that all this time? He is the one who reads all that is invisible, never the other way around. He is being challenged, and that isn’t ideal for a man with ambitions.
He has every reason to leave the Doctor. To leave Rhodes Island, cut off every connection. He gets nothing out of this, he reminds himself.
Still, he is here when he is called.
He leans against gloved hand and sighs, letting eyes he cannot see pierce right into him.
