Alright, Solis was still following, he managed to lose those Magma grunts in the dark of the night and he was still holding that big dumb rock they were supposed to steal. Seemed like the mission was mostly a success.
Now only remained his chief concern. How was he going to get the hell out of here? Fallarbor was still very much part of Team Magma’s turf, so he couldn’t really linger around. If only he thought about bringing a Flying type, or a bike, or maybe even...
He heard the sound of an approaching engine, and before he could tell where it was coming from, Lorenz was blinded by a pair of headlights. He was about to run away, not really wanting to find out what would happen if it was that creepy robot chick behind the wheel, when it drifted and stopped inches away from him. He blinked in mild amazement and let out a sigh of relief when the face he saw at the window turned out to be Tae’s. She seemed proud to announce how easy it had been for her to “borrow” the vehicle.
“You scared the shit out of me.”
He called his Starmie back into their Poké Ball and hopped into the back seat (The passenger’s seat was occupied by Gerdr already).
First thing he did was drop the meteorite fragment on the one empty seat.
“Rock secured. Floor it!“
Tae had to admit, field work was not her cup of tea. She didn’t really enjoy being reduced down to criminal activity for a paycheque, much preferring the comforting (to her) sounds of the engineering deck. The hum of machines, the screech of power tools, and very little talking. At the same time, she couldn’t exactly say no when she was asked to guard a simple operation. Her hands stayed relatively clean, and all she really had to do was stand there and raise the alarm if a certain sweater wearing gang decided they wanted in...
Which of course, they had. Some other grunt had raised the alarm, but she hadn’t stood there with her hands in her pockets. It was Gerdr who spotted the Jeep, and although it was hard to tell in the dark, Tae could have sworn it was bright red, the colour of those climate terrorists... Either way, whoever it belonged to wasn’t using it, and Tae figured she could make good use of it. She was getting ready to start hot-wiring when... huh... cute key rings...
That was what lead her to picking up Lorenz, a cocky grunt who liked to head up this kind of operation. They didn’t cross paths too often, except to swap orders and drink beers in the break room. Normal stuff. Gerdr greeted him with an excited “Buh-buh!”
“Get in, bitch, we’re goin’ home, I got circuit board back on base that won’t solder themselves!”
It didn’t take long for Lorenz to do just that, and just like he didn’t need to be told to get in the car, she didn’t need to be told to slam her foot on the accelerator. The wheels span for a bit before she dramatically took her foot off the break, shooting the bulky vehicle down the track with a cloud of dust.
“That went smoothly... for you.”
