They had taken his true form, but they could not take the night. It was an esoteric, comforting thought. The moon, no matter how full or slim, was still aglow in the heavens, a beacon and a savior for all lost. He, at the moment, was not misplaced but wandering. He was made for the moon and he’d travel under the moon, that’s all there was to it.

He hadn’t expected his walk to lead him to someone else, but here they were now. Thick lashes shaded the light from hitting his navy eyes, yet the golden crescent still glowed regardless.

     “Oh. My apologies, I hadn’t realized someone was here.” His gaze slowly rose back to the sky. “You’ve chosen a very nice to watch the world. I would like to view it too, but I’ll leave if you wish to be alone.”  ☾

Or perhaps expected, considering how the man’s every gesture, movement, and fold of clothing weave neatly into a fantastical narrative on life, death, beauty, elegance, and the colorful type of philosophizing that leaves certain swords giddy for weeks and Yagen with a mild headache.

The tantou is terrible at pitching prose, but he’s skilled at playing the professional, so he manages to nod along at the appropriate intervals with his cursory examination. Finally, he pauses to straighten up during a lull in the monologuing.

‘I’m not an expert on souls,’ Or whether they tremble, he adds mentally.

‘But it’s equally important to take care of the bodies housing those things.’

He crosses his arms over the stethoscope resting on his chest and looks pointedly at the man’s oversized shoulder guards.

‘If you’re here for the physical examination but don’t want to change, at least lift up your shirt so I can listen to your heartbeat.’

       it was something that happened sometimes -- he wouldn’t like to actually admit that it ever happened, but having sharp horns tended for some mishaps every so often. this one happened to have him stuck head first in a tree someone decided they were going to sit under. how long was he actually there before the other arrived? he isn’t sure himself -- he’d tripped on something, rolled and landed horn first into this tree and no amount of pulling freed him thus far.

Mangu, again, was playing his guitar outside, actually taking his room mates into consideration for once, so he just began playing a song he’d heard on the radio at the shelter.
