Africa Adornment #repost from @janschlegel This picture of Alitash was one of the very first pictures that I actually liked of my tribes portraits. This was at the 5th trip to the south of Ethiopia. It was the first time I was using a backdrop, a 4x5 inch large format camera and a mobile flash system. I has to learn my way of seeing and expression. Before I took this picture of Alitash that I felt all my pictures just showed poor people and not the trumendos beauty and dignity that I saw there. I always was dissapointed looking at my results after developing them. That posted picture marked the beginning of my "Essence" series and released so much passion and zeal within me to continue and to go deeper and further. That's why this picture is very special to me. The picture of Meida and Bona that I posted before this one, was taken in the same village a few trips later. In April I will go back there!! It's a very special part of the world to me. Analog picture developed and partly toned in my darkroom.
