What’s the difference between sterling and silverplate? ~Pure silver, like investment bars are .999 pure ~Sterling silver is 92.5% silver ~Silver plate is a base metal like copper, with silver plating over it. What is coin silver ? ~It is 90% silver; US Coins are usually 90% silver Do Coin silver pieces other than Coins tend to be older/antique silver pieces? ~Yes.
