Gabriel: I’m glad to be back.

Avery: How was the party? 

Gabriel: It was  great to see my girls together again. They’re so grown up and mature now that they’re well into their twenties

Avery: I would hardly call 22 “well into the twenties”

Gabriel: Yeah well it’s better than how I really feel. Up to me I would still have them in cradles and diapers. 

Avery: That’s because seeing them grow older makes you realise how much older you are, you dinosaur

Gabriel: Don’t call me a dinosaur

Avery: Okay then o-

Gabriel: And don’t call me old man either

Gabriel: So how’s Ellie doing?

Avery: She’s doing well. She was talking to me about getting a job the other day. I couldn’t believe my ears

Gabriel: Well if there’s any particular job she wants, let me know. I’ll see if I can pull some strings

Avery: I don’t think I can accept that your royal highness. 

Gabriel: Why not?

Avery: It’s obvious isn’t it? You’ve already given us so much. This house, my job, Avery’s tuition. Not to mention all the littler things you spring on me every time you drop by.

Gabriel: That necklace looks stunning on you by the way

Avery: My point exactly. 

Gabriel: Okay. I won’t interfere. Besides, she’ll be much happier if she knew her success in landing a good job was all due to her own efforts.

Gabriel: I’m just sorry if all my good intentions are getting lost in the grandeur of the gifts I’m giving you

Avery: Please don’t say that. I’m so grateful to you. I can’t imagine how difficult it would have been for us to get by, with me raising Ellie by myself. I’m only able to give her the best life that I can because of you

Gabriel: You know I would do anything for her. Just as I would do anything for you. I love you, Avery

Gabriel: It must have slipped my mind. I only realised once I got here and noticed that you weren’t

Elena: Yes... well I also left early

Gabriel: Right... well... I better be off

Avery: Are you sure you won’t stay for tea sir, now that Elena is here

Gabriel: I would love to but i’ll have to decline. I must get back to work now. And I’m sure you’d want to spend some quality time with your daughter since she’s been away in school for so long.
