It was after school and everyone had pretty much deserted the place. The only people still occupying it were those in those stupid extracurricular clubs. Oh well! They benefited him too despite his lack of participation. He could use them as an excuse for why he was still in the building instead of the real reason.
He had checked that the coast was clear before he wandered into the cafeteria. All the staff had left for the day and the janitors wouldn’t be in here until later, he knew, so he would be fine so long as he kept quiet.
Only when he was pulling the snack bags from a high cabinet, a few other things clattered to the ground around him.
“Shit,” he said and paused to see if anyone had heard.
