Simon slammed his finger into the [power] button on the radio. Stupid. He'd forgotten to turn it off when he pulled up. The music that had played on the way to the cafe was a great distraction from the visions of the night, making it harder to keep picturing the spotfires growing, but he hated listening to the news after dreaming. He always knew what was coming.
I've been reworking things again. It's not the same as totally new bits, but by going a few chapters at a time and then coming back to refresh them again and again I'll have ship of Theseused myself into a new story with all the same dolls I'm playing with, thank you very much.
Current step: stop making the characters take turns and start letting the reader actually connect with someone before the story flicks away from them.
