Recycling, revival an illusion? Use and throw away, no recycling, no rearrangement, always starting from scratch. ‘What struck me most about the American people was consumerism and its consequent individualism,’ says the Italian photographer Simone Bergantini. His ‘American Standard (Remix)’ series, are reflections of his artist in residency in the US, the portraits of Mrs and Mr Smith his favoured examples. The material, a bunch of 4×5-inch negatives shot in the late fifties, he bought in a second hand shop in Brooklyn. He recomposed them, tried to give them life again through twisted, co-existing faces, which you still fail to access. #simonebergantini #simone_bergantini_artworks #GalleriaPack #miart2019 #miart #artfair #soloshow #contemporaryart #artecontemporanea #fotografia #largeformatphotography #blackandwhite #artblog (at Milan, Italy) https://www.instagram.com/p/BwsA8-KF9gp/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=4jvaev50es0p
