Samandriel sat in the corner of a tavern on Lilac. His head hurt. He’d been remembering more lately and he thought he was starting to get close to remembering more about his sibling. That was his next aim, finding her so that she could fill in some gaps for him. He sipped at his soup and watched the people in the tavern. He spotted a young man with dark hair and something about him seemed familiar. It was in his head. He’d never seen him in his life, but he’d been obsessing so much lately over memories that in that moment, he was sure that this man was a clue. “Hi, I’m sorry to bother you, but do I know you from somewhere?”

Regarding my blog today, I am posting my history with simontam-the-doctor, which later moved to doctor-aboard-serenity (her personal: keep-flying-and-stay-shiny which later moved to whimsical-in-tha-brainpan, other blogs that are referenced here: fireflyfanfiction and slightly-moon-touched [now deactivated but she stated it’s her]). At the end of our disagreement, she stated that she had done nothing “that justifies [me] blogging about [her] rudely!” (source) And so, I would simply like to lay out in one post how she has treated me and what I have seen of how she has interacted with the community.

For the sake of the length of this post, anything regarding her reposting my things, see this tag. I had forgotten to add this to that, but this one of her responses to my asking she stop reposting edited screencaps.

Today, in response to my asking that she stop reposting, full stop, she called me a joke and threatened to repost my edits just to “piss you off” and immediately made good on that threat. She also termed me, though not by name, petty, and again claiming she did nothing to justify my actions.

She later asked that I delete all public proof of our conversation, calling me “so fucking petty and rude.” (here)

In the past, she has vagueblogged about myself and others in the community: after I told her to stop reposting screencaps to her fanfiction blog, in response to someone turning her down to roleplay, something about washthepilotguy. These posts perhaps do not support my position as solidly as I would like.

However, she has given me the sense that she is entitled, feels obligated to Firefly RPers’ interactions by virute of being in the same fandom, and totally disregards any polite attempts to ask her to stop reposting edits and icons. I had stated in the discussion regarding reposting that the failure of previous conversations, screencaps of which are here, made me feel as if the only way to get through to her was through public dialogue.

This is why I feel justified dragging this out into public dialogue.

Flashes of lightning cast eerie highlights upon the landscape. With the loud grumbles of thunder, it seemed, that the entire world shook. Trees, themselves, rattled and swayed between the might of the thunder and the howling wind.

Anna struggled with her dark-black hooded-cloak and finally tired of battling the wind to keep the hood over her head. Curls sprayed out in every which direction as its protection was ripped free of her head.

“You there,” she called over the wind to the stranger, who seemed to be ambling aimlessly. “Have you shelter?” Anna shouted. She couldn’t care less if he was a loyalist or a rebel…. or even a hessian.  No one should be left out in this weather, no matter where their allegiance may rest.

You could have just wrote me. But you decided to make it a big thing when it fact it is not, which, is rude. Just don't look at my blog? Then you wouldn't feel upset. Idk. Honestly I don't care. It's not hard work to snap a picture and make it small and blurry. I am only mobile so it's hard for me to find things and I do tag you, even if it's the wrong name (whoops) but idk. I'm tired of you harassing me.

simontam-the-doctor, firstly, if you are so concerned about me keeping this private, I do not understand why you sent this anon, therefore forcing me to keep this public.

To respond directly to the message:

I have written to you in the past about reposting (specifically from capsfromtheverse, I realize, not about icons, but since you are clearly aware that I am demisexualsimontam and capsfromtheverse, I assume you already understand my feelings on the matter), twice, both times privately. (The screencaps of those conversations, mostly with you at your personal keep-flying-and-stay-shiny, are here. It involved you Simon RP blog and your fic blog at FireflyFanFiction, now deactivated. At some point, you’ve told me you don’t take gifs or screencaps.) After both these attempts to reach out to you, you continue this behavior. This is why I reached out to you publicly.

As far as it not being a big thing, as you are not the one who created the icons and you are the one reposting without permission, you do not get to decide whether or not it’s something that should be bothering me, who did make the icons. Additionally, the general sentiment the roleplay community is that taking another’s icons without permission is something that should not be done. Because of this, I have asked that you stop, and because of this, I feel that is it not a minor thing.

Not looking at your blog doesn’t change the fact that you are taking things off of mine. This isn’t me disagreeing with your interpretation, this isn’t me disliking how you write Simon. This is me disliking the fact that you are coming to my blog and then taking things directly off of it. No amount of not looking at you is going to change the fact that you are taking stuff off my blogs. My multiple blogs.

“It’s not hard work to make icons.” I know a massive percentage of the roleplay community, those who make icons and those who do not, who will disagree with you. The reason people approach groups like thehollowedartists and rpicongallery to request icons is because this isn’t easy. Yes, it’s snap, crop, color. But it’s time consuming, even if you’re one who uses quicker methods (like timeline method). And, I don’t know, but if you ask anyone who makes gifs of Firefly, coloring this series isn’t EASY by any means.

Being mobile isn’t an excuse. I myself roleplay from mobile extremely often. It does not really make finding resources harder, especially since you’ve liked and reblogged my icon listing source for Firefly (liked, as indicated by your personal URL there, keep-flying-and-stay-shiny, here is the post on your blog). You are aware these sources exist. You have used them in the past. You do not have to be reposting from me.

Tagging me does not negate that I have not given you leave to repost it, and it does not negate the fact that I am asking you to stop. (And, you failed to tag me two out of the four times.) I am asking not that you credit, but that you stop altogether.

And I am not harrassing you. You are disregarding my requests to stop taking things from me and from my other blogs (this is including reposting one of my edits, on your blog, on my personal, and part of my edits, on your blog, on my personal).

I have been exceedingly polite in the past. And you have refused to listen to all my attempts to politely tell you to stop.

Hello! I cannot @ mention you, so I hope you see this post. I don’t know if you’ve seen my general posts about it here and here, and I’ve approached you in the past regarding reposting caps from capsfromtheverse, and the failure of those conversations to curtail this is what leads me to do this publicly, but I kindly request that you stop reposting icons and gificons (100x100 gifs) from my blog if they are not included in the sets in this tag. (If they are in a set in that tag, feel free to use them as much as you like.)

I do notice you have attempted to occasionally to credit me, noting in your tags that the icon or gifcon was created by doctorofserenity (ah! which is actually incorrect, I am doctoronserenity), but while I do somewhat appreciate the attempt at a credit, it does not at all negate that I find it extremely rude that you took the icon without explicit permission. While I understand I do not own the works, the amount of time and effort invested in creating the icons is great, and the general sentiment of the community, one that I echo, is that it is rude at best and disrespectful at worst to take these icons off another’s blog without permission. I, very politely, ask that you refrain from doing this in the future. If you need icons, I am happy to direct you to other sources available for you to use.

The icons in question are from BFFs (webcite, most recent appearance on my blog), from The Playboy Club (webcite, most recently on me), from EastSiders (webcite, from me recently), and from “Heart of Gold” (webcite, from me most recently). I realize at the moment it’s only four measely icons, but what makes me nervous is the fact that you had taken them off my blog, including just this moment, and that makes me nervous about the future and this behavior continuing.
